How do you see alts coming into play within Avian Trading Company?

In Eve we had traders, miners, haulers, and fighters. In PotBC will we have Naval Officer, Free-Trader, Privateer. Will Free-Traders do the crafting and hauling, while Privateers and Officers run fleet defense and attack raids?

With time based labor polls, I see myself doing my crafting duties as soon as I log in, and then spending the other 80% of my time supporting Avian convoys, doing missions, or teaming up in an Avian attack fleet.

I am trying to get a feel for the game and how Avian will work in it. With three characters per server will we all have a crafting alt, and fighter alts? Right now I see myself doing the merchant thing supporting the company (other Avian crafters), and having fighting alt escorting Avian merchants and patrolling the seas. Possibly attacking competition if we go that far.

What do you envision?

I'd like to be able to have a crafter alt and a combat main. It will remain to be seen, however, if the crafter will be an alt or a main. I think it will be mainly dependent on the complexity (or lack thereof) of the crafting system and how easy it is craft in-game. That being said, it worries me a bit if crafting is too easy as we'll see a lot of people with crafting alts flooding the market with goods. We have much to learn in open/closed beta.

I am still not sure how the leveling/advancement/skills work in this game. Anyone have a link?

some devlogs on the economy, might help

http://www.burningsea.com/pages/page.ph ... e_id=10274

http://www.burningsea.com/pages/page.ph ... e_id=10253

also, on the leveling, its quite simple, gain a level by getting enough xp, if you level up, you do not get extra stats, health, and whatever like in WoW

instead, you gain a skill point, one for your carreer skill tree, and the next level one for your fighting style skill tree, then for carreer again, and then fighting... and so on

these skills are only options one can use, both in combat and out of combat(depending on the skill), and you can rechoose those skills as much as you like(no details on how yet, and no details on the skill trees)

you may also need a level(or a higher level) to gain acces to bigger ships, but if you want to keep to small manouvreable ships, you are not forced to keep training for skills you won't use

levels are just a number indicating how many difrent options are available to you, those options are not always combat options, as it is possable to use a skill point to learn an other language(thus allowing you to talk to, and trade with the faction speaking that languache),

hope this helps, and in case anybody was wondering, yes, i do look at the PotBS site for news twice a day
