this was posted by a corpmate in my EVE Guild...and I think it was a great article on what EVE is...at least from a meta perspective

http://www.roaringshrimp.com/scratchpad_docs/EOPolitics_DraftVersion1.pdf

After you read this, do the tuturial, and read all the help guides posted in the forums that relate to being a miner, missioner, pirate, etc...and spent a month or so in-game, you'll start to reach the point where you get the depth and breadth of what you can do...

conversely, if you play the game in a very 2 dimensional (WoW-like) fashion this game can bore you quickly. The missions are not as interesting as EQ2 or WoW (personal opinion) so if that's all you do it just doesn't work (again my opinion).

yes, alot of people play eve for a while and then quit, because they think missions are bad=game is bad

the first few pages are usefull in telling them its not about the missions, but i think the whole thing might get a bit too advanced for the new eve players

wow quite a read.

I haven't read it all but pretty much concur with the part I did read.

I think dbakke's point is you have to open your mind, and get out of your themepark box, or you will never enjoy EVE.

Its really as simple as that.
