Agreed. I cannot wait for release (or I suppose even a beta). |

problem with cinematic trailers, is they do nothing to show you what the game will be like. its more of a fantasy scenario that they release to make you remember they're making a game eventually.... probably time that could be better spent making the game... but thats just my opinion. |

Bioware have done a lot of work to flesh out the background storyline alongside the work they've been doing over the last couple of years. The cinematic trailers are just another addition to this body of work along with the webcomics and the timeline videos and such. I suspect it's probably also done by a different team to those working on the game itself and so I doubt it would be released any faster if they hadn't done the trailer. |

I've been gearing rumors of GL planning to re-make the Original Trilogy in 3D. Is it possible this could be a sort of testing the quality? |

GL needs to stay away. Any remake of Star Wars needs to be made by someone other than GL, he has lost his way. |

The 3D conversion technology already exists. I've seen the opening scene of SW and part of the pod race in 3D when doing work for XpanD. It's an odd sort of 3D layering of 2D objects but looks awesome - no idea what the software is that produces the effect. |

See, I think it looks like ass. Like those old flip binocular things you had as a kid, showing things in "3D" and you'd move the lever and get a new picture. It isn't really 3D, its 2D superimposed on each other in layers. To me its distracting as all get-out. Stuff like Toy Story 3 in 3D, however, looks completely normal and natural, and I don't have a problem with it at all. Its the stuff shot on traditional film and then converted that looks weird to me. |

I sat in on the Green Hornet panel at ComicCon. Its the technology that they are using on it to make it 3D after it was half in the can filmed in 2D. |

I mean, he admittedly plagiarized the plot, couldn't actually write the story to save his life, and fell back on story elements from numerous sources. I'm not sure his vision was really that bold at the time, it just hadn't been done before at that level. |

Very few stories are truly original. Many combine elements from others or follow some sort of formulaic pattern, however, the result of this process produces a product that could be considered original. I am currently writing (and have been for a while) a sci-fi novel. Many of the ideas I have used in it have been borrowed from other places or represent something from my personal experience. There are almost certainly many people who have shared those sorts of experiences, plus the experiences I have read about or seen will also have an influence on my writing. So most of the individual points in my novel are hardy going to be original, however, I still believe that the resulting novel I create will be quite unique and have a certain saleable quality to it.

I myself is (presuming my work doesn't get in the way) trying to work on my own novel. (In the topic "On Hiatus" by me you can see the basic idea of the universe I'm trying to create, unofurtunatly work has gotten in my way to go on and write more for you guys to read or critizise...) While there is no doubt that I am inspired by SW when coming to the setting I have learned that the trick is to write the story as if you're experiencing it or remembering past experiences. By doing that, you add your own sense of reality into the story - while at the same time write a story that others can relate to. |
