I wasn't blown away by this TBH. The rail shooter in space aspect does not really appeal to me. Could be fun in small doses to experience something a little different than your usual MMO ground combat but it definitely won't be selling to hardcore space combat fans.

That was pretty cool... while I agree it is not a great selling point for me, it does look like a nice change when I get those moments of "What should I do know..."

Yeah, I am not crazy with their limited Space combat. What they have right now is good for a "type" of space combat experience or mission, but in addition to this "fly in my gun sight” mission type I want to see more free form space combat and space exploration.

I also think the ships looks too nimble as they bank and shift to follow the recital. These are not nimble Jedi starfighters, all of these ships are freighters and should be less spastic as they fly and more smooth.

I guess we can always hope for an expansion, but right now this space flight seems to be the weakest link in this Star Wars game.

I had not really stopped and thought about that but you are right - the ships really are not really combat ships which at least to me breaks the immersion a bit. Feels like it was kind of thrown in as a two birds with one stone (housing and space combat). Hopefully is can be an area where we see post-launch dev time being spent.

So, something I remember them discussing early on was how they were looking at the mistakes and successes of other games launches, including SWG, and with Space Ships specifically they had mentioned how Releasing SWG without that component was probably the single biggest mistake SOE/LA made. They believe that if they would have released with a limited Space game and enhanced it later that they would not have lost the numbers they did after the honeymoon. Personally, I have to agree with them. I think there were a lot of screw-ups with SWG, but that one was the most significant for me. Even more so than the CU, or any of the other fubars the did.
