There is a good Dev blog about the user interface. Prety good read.

Reminds me of a streamlined version of the old SW:G.

But then again... there has been talk about a change to it after the e# started...

Can anyone confirm that?

Azz, in the Live Demo they stated that this is the Final version of the UI. It's unlikely to change from this as the default configuration.

Star Warsy is quite a defined look. SWG's UI looked Star Warsy and so does this one, therefore, to a certain extent, they're going to look similar.

The change mentioned in E3 is the exact change we see in this April thread/dev blog.
The old UI had lots of bulk, testers hated it, so they created the minimalist version we saw first in April, and now the general gaming public is hearing it for the first time at E3.
This is old news. There will be very little UI changes from here on out.
