I'm home sick today. My co-worker gave me some uck, so I can't breathe, I'm sneezing and coughing, and I have a headache. *whine whine whine, whine some more*

So I'm playing SWTOR, and man there are a ton of little things in this game that really, really bug me. Most of it has to do with continuity. I know the goal is to make you feel like you're in the Star Wars universe, and to do that there has to be a lot of similar styles to the movies. However, Bioware has gotten lazy, or they think they are too cute, and rather than making the galaxy seem big and impressive, they've made it seem like there are 12 people in the entire place, and that 5 of them do everything.

Just got to Balmora. Who is in charge there that I'm working for?

Commander Madine. Surely that's just a coincidence, right? I mean, there has to be a lot of people in the galaxy with the same last name, right? Until I discover that I'm also working for Senator Dodonna. Wow, that isn't totally a strange, immersion breaking coincidence or anything.

I finally get to meet Commander Madine. What does he look like? Well, a little bit harder than his great^150 grandson, and he has darker hair, but the beard and mustache? Check. If Senator Dodonna is an old guy with a bushy white beard, I may just scream. In fact, I may go to the darkside with the goal of killing everyone in order to wipe out the rampant nepotism that seems to have taken a firm grip on the galaxy.

Couple all of that with the Sith "Empire" that has basically the same logo as the Galactic Empire in the movies, which was supposed to have been derived from the Republic logo, and they bad buys ships are all triangular with turbolaser placements basically identical to modern Imperial Star Destroyers, and the fact that troopers all have clone/stormtrooper armor, etc, and I'm getting a little bit fatigued on the design and environment of this game. That is a shame, because it is a damn fun game with some very good stories and humor. They've also done jawas so well, I'm actually excited to talk to them when I run across one.

There are just certain elements that make me wonder if GL's disease (loss of brain function, replaced by something with the creativity and critical thinking of a 12 year old - no offense to anyone's 12 year olds) isn't contagious, and maybe we should nuke southern CA right away.

I don't dislike the game. It just irritates me in all the same ways George does. When he announced he was retiring 'cause no one likes his movies, I just chuckled and thought to myself, "Ah, cannot get your ship out?"
