Wish they would have posted server timezones as well. Do we care if we play on an East Coast, Central, or West Coast server? If not, any preferences for what you may have read big guilds going to? Or perhaps those to avoid b/c big guilds are going to?

If no one really cares, shall we just try Byriel PvE?

Off to find where to DL the live client.

Edit - found it. Just visit main page and click Head Start picture. Easy stuff. Patching now. Can't wait til launch.

2x posting...

I am still pondering first class to try but am now leaning towards Rogue (Bard, Marksman, Ranger). Could combo well with your planned Mage Stilgar. DF, you sticking with your Warrior (just as a Defiant)?

Not saying we should coordinate our class selections per say (let everyone play what they want), just curious given all the choices available!

3x posting...

Found this little website with class summaries, profesison summaries, etc. Not sure how good it is or if the dude even knows what he is talking about but I post it anyways in case someone wants to read:

Pretty sure I am sticking with Mage... first alt will probably be cleric.

The servers are all located in Texas... so no timezone concerns.

Ah ok. Nice not to worry about timezones.

I liked how Byriel rolled off the tongue, but Gnarlwood is cool too. Let's roll there. Could use Byriel if we decide to ever roll Guardians.

Learned last night you can have 3 professions. Rogue is going Outfitter, Butcher, and Miner I think.

Sounds good... again, whatever is clever.

I am going Butcher, Runecrafter, Outfitter (I think Outfitter is the cloth/leather armor guy). I will have plenty of leather for you should you need it!!!

Yeah outfitter is the cloth and leather armor guy. Armorsmith is the mail and plate guy.

I just wanted 2 passive gathering profs for while out questing. Outfitter to make me some armor, bit more importantly BAGS!

Yes, the all important bags on a fresh MMO... most important!

I got to admit, I am crazy amped for this game to start... I just hope that I am not disappointed! (if beta is any indication, I won't be).

So Gnarlwood it is? If so, I will start my toons their, post their names here tomorrow night.

Probably Warrior and a hunter for me, I liked both in beta.

Warrior (Paladin/Riftblade/Champion) or some such
Hunter (Not sure did a Ranger/Saboteur/Marksmen)

I was less impressed by the casting classes.

How the heck did I miss the manual? Time to do some reading!

Oh, and sounds like my bid will be on tomorrow. Think he's leaning warrior as well. No idea if he's applied to the forums yet tho.

They pushed another 1.5gb patch this morning.

You have to wonder if internet tech does not start keeping up with games ...were going to have to go back to physical media. 9-10gb total d/l probably if you have any type of cap that's gotta hurt.

Totally agree... I can't imagine having a slow connection and trying to get this sized client downloaded with enough time to make the early access.

What I think they should do is just use memory sticks... send the entire game on the memory stick... a lot less packing... and you could put manuals and such on there as well. Don't know about the rest of you, but I don't keep the boxes for anything more then as a place to keep the CDs together.

Is that 1.5 gb patch on top of the one from last night? When I hopped on (around 9pm mst) to get the manual onto USB stick I updated for a patch then.

Sure hope I don't need to patch again when I get home from work.

Well, looking at the Rift forums... looks like a 1.5gb patch might be the least of our worries... of course, hopefully by tonight the initial onslaught will have slowed some...

I was afraid of that. Good thing I didn't take the day off with the goal of playing all day. Guess this old man has learned from prior mmo launches afterall. Hehe.

If the servers cooperate at all, I'll only be on until about 8pm mst anyway.
I'll only be on

Queued for Gnarlwood... saying about a 50 minute wait... could be worse I guess! I still need to do some work, so no biggie.

Ha ha... got in, created my 3 toons... started having fun...then the message of doom "Server coming down in 10 minutes for performance tweeks"... I am so glad I didn't take the day off, or anything like that!!!

When I was in though, game was running great... all 10 minutes of it.

2 hour 20 minute queue for me. #523

Very disappointing to say the least. Why are the server capacities so small anyways? I read somewhere each is only 1,500 people.

that's a rumor that RIFT busted. At one point in beta they had servers with that limit intentionally.

I think they are intentionally trying to spread the population I suspect...not good.

At this rate all I'll be able to do tonight is create chars to reserve names. Da well, hopefully the queues decrease over the next few days.
