Alrighty! About 3 days to go and 10 spots left. This is more like what I imagined.

Another question:

Can Marrok change the points during the season and possibly from game to game? If so can we have a promise from you Marrok that you wont change the points so that any team gains an advantage over the other becuase their points didnt count the same?

I know nobody would cheat like this in a friendly game among friends, but im running low on questions.

Stat points and stuff can't be changed after draft day...

I know nobdy wants to give away their strategy but for the sake of having some disscussion what do you think is the most important 1st pick? QB? RB? K? Def?

Im planning on picking a RB first.

Also, has anybody watched any pre-season games? I watched Wsh vs Car last night and the Skins looked horrible. Although its difficult to judge a team with the starting QBs only taken like 8 snaps.

So who else is looking good or bad?

I had a buddy that took the Bucs as his D last year and they carried his team some weeks. Scoring multiple touchdowns, sacks, int's, fumble's, etc, per game it got pretty wrong some times!

Hehe Rom. Davni said he would join us, but that only makes 11. Anybody else think we arnt gonna fill this up? Maybe its just the pestimest(sp?) in me.

Ah oh well, 10 or 11 teams is enough I guess. But with only 10 teams it I predict a bunch of good player sitting on the benches. What do you think? :)

If by, say Tuesday, if we don't have many more people join could we extend invitations to non-avians?

Ok Rom, I will let them know that it really only takes a lttile bit of time unless they want to win ;)

The only thing I would think that you must reserch is who is injured. Just to make sure your not playing a person who just got his leg torn off. :)

Is any one else going to join? The deadline is Wednesday, not after 2:30pm CDT.
So far we have 12 teams.

Tealk joined us, making 13 teams so far. What is the ruleing on letting non-avians join? I guess marrok should make that choice ultimatly. What do you guys think?

I would think with like 24 or maybe 12 hours to go we should start filling the spots if we can, it seems to me like a waste. Whatever.

I agree Boss, I too would have liked to have it all avians but it looks like we dont have 20 avians who want to play football. This isnt a big deal, 13 teams are fine, I just would have liked to had a full league.

Who knows, we may be able to coax 7 people into joining us.

14 teams now? Thats plenty. No need to get non-avians in there. :) But please don't let that stop any other Avians from joining! the more the merrier!

Well, to field most of the questions...

I can change the point totals at any time up until October 11. I can also change many of the league settings (waiver times for example) up until that date. Does this mean I will? No. I will only do so after games are played for a given week and I see a large imbalance due to one or more of my settings. I'm not going to be playing favorites in this. The same principle applies to trades. If I see something that's not fair, I will veto the trade (you all have the option to report trades you feel are unfair too).

Most of the other settings are set in stone after the draft. However, I can increase the number of players allowed on the bench at any time. I'm not really planning on doing this, however, because I want there to be some talent on the FA market. It allows for a lot more strategy, and will hopefully encourage much more trading than we had last year.

As for which makes a good first round pick, it really all depends. I've tried to balance scoring so that the average RB has the potential to score as much as a WR, which is usually where the biggest imbalance lies. QBs tend to score well, but it all depends on the type of team (big passing or running offense, go for big plays, etc.). Of course you could pick up a dominant TE that scores as much as a good RB or WR (Shockey or Gonzalez come to mind). And, if things are like last year, you could clean up with a defense (Bucs). Out of all, it's safe to say that a first round kicker is a bad choice. Other than that it's pretty much fair game.

Now, as for having non-Avians in it, it really doesn't matter to me too much. Last year we had one that I know of... she had joined before I turned it into an Avian Football League. :D The only thing I care about is that we have an even number of teams. Having a bye week sucks. If I need to cut it off at 16 or 18 I might, but it all depends on who we get to join between now and about noon tomorrow.

I've sent out an in-game email to every Avian name I had. I'm sure you've all deleted it by now. Let's hope to see a few more join. We're up to 16 teams.

unless your kicker is john Elam..then its bad to take a First round kicker :p..he scored me quite a few points last year..probably averaged out to about 1/2 of what a WR or QB tends to score..but on his good days he was great!

ARRRGHH!! My RL favorite player is kaput!!

Quote:
Falcons’ Vick suffers broken leg

Image

ATLANTA, Aug. 16 — Atlanta Falcons star Michael Vick fractured his right fibula Saturday night during an exhibition game against Baltimore, and a team source told The Associated Press the quarterback will be sidelined at least six weeks.

THE SOURCE, SPEAKING on condition of anonymity, said Vick wouldn’t have surgery. If he’s out six weeks, he’ll miss the first four games of the regular season, and would return Oct. 5 against Minnesota.

Philadelphia quarterback Donovan McNabb had a similar injury last year and was out two months.
Vick was chased out of the pocket on a third-down play late in the first quarter and was tackled by Adalius Thomas. Vick fell awkwardly on his right leg and grabbed it even before he hit the ground.
Thomas, after briefly celebrating the tackle, went back to check on Vick and several of Vick’s teammates knelt beside him. When it was apparent he was hurt, a hush came over the crowd at the Georgia Dome.
After he was examined by the Falcons’ medical staff, Vick got up with some help and limped a few steps to a cart. The crowd gave him a standing ovation as he was driven to the locker room.

Vick got off to a rough start against the Ravens, getting sacked on the first play and throwing an interception on the next one. He finished 0-for-4, and rushed for 8 yards.
Last season, he made the Pro Bowl in his first full season as a starter and set three NFL records for rushing by a quarterback.

I'll trade McNabb to whoever has him :D

Hey DF, can we get the list at the beginning of this updated so we know who all the teams are owned by?
