We've got a group of 5 or so of us from the old days (some Avian, some MG) playing on this server now. We just started last week or so. It's a very stable server and it's just like you remembered. They run a hybrid of code from the various emu projects which results in a nearly complete game. CH even works. They fix bugs and add new code as it's available. Mature staff and a good player base make it a nice alternative to the swgemu servers. You can have 8 characters now (was 10) but they are constantly reviewing that as the playerbase grows and the economy develops.

If anyone is interested, give it a shot. www.swgawakening.com

We've been having a lot of fun experiencing this again and are hoping to have a PA hall soon, just as oon as I grind out architect. We'd love to see more of you all stop by! (and stick around, and, I don't know, maybe build a city :P ).

Sounds cool! Keep us updated. You never know, I may join in sometime (I still have original disks somewhere) but my playtime is generally limited and I suspect that matching up with US playtimes these days would be quite difficult.

I've got to get a new PC first. Using a POS with no vid card and not enough umph to run even old-school games.

You have got to tell us the specs of that machine.

'Cause here are the system requirements for SWG.

Recommended System Requirements
Code:
INTEL CPU  : Pentium 4 1.5GHz
AMD CPU    : Athlon XP 1500+
Nvidia GPU : GeForce 4 MX 440
AMD GPU    : Radeon 8500 Series 64MB
RAM        : 512 MB
HDD Space  : 3 GB
OS         : Win XP (Vista, 7 are confirmed to be fine, dunno about Win 8)
DirectX    : Version 8

No video card, at all. Just the discreet graphics on the PC. It's a slim profile, so I don't have a card that will fit, and if I'm going to buy a new vid card I'll just buy a better pc anyway.

On-board graphics should be powerful enough these days to run it. Presumably you've tried it?

What he said.
Most older games runs fine on on-board due to DirectX run-time.

Tried it when I first bought this thing, but since then I've upgraded the RAM, which was extremely slow. I'll get my disks back out of storage and try it again.

There's a Lenovo i3 sitting here with onboard video that runs the game great, even two clients at a time.

We just dropped a bank and a cantina today in the city. It would be great to see you there.

An update for those thinking of joining:

We've added our shuttleport for the city
Added 5 new players to the PA, with more coming over from a guild we have an alliance with (we did on Chilastra too. They were the WOOKS, and are now FISH. Their non-Mon Cal alts are joining us).

And... we have added a UK player to the fold! :)

Just got back from the 3 week vacay at my dads place.

Gonna dig up the SWG discs and get in as soon as possible.

Questions.

Any form of VOip we use?
And...

I know it is Pre-CU, but is JtLS a thing they consider?

JTL is not finished yet, so no.

The server offers a TS server we can use if needed. If enough people start playing and we find we could really benefit from one, I'll rent one from a hosted service.

Shoot me a tell or msg when you're in game, and we'll look forward to seeing you!

Sorry, I haven't been able to be online much the past couple of days. I'm usually on as Baylor, Tetran, or Malu.

Dartak and Darant (Dais) are on often, as well as Rhyno'. I look forward to seeing you!

Ok I'll look for them too. I'm always on during my days off, and sometimes I can connect when I'm on the road.

Not sure if I'll be able to join up with you, but I have been playing recently on the "Basilisk" server that swgemu put up. The game seems pretty decent on their server. I was able to grind out Master Marksman and Artisan, and have been playing with my 13 year old son. He always wanted to play since he saw the disks a few years ago. I'd love if they got JTL working as I never really got to fly in space.
