The time has come. The grass is getting greener, the peanuts are roasting, and the MLB regular season is almost here. What's that mean? Well, it's time for us to be the manager and act like we know what we're talking about. The first ever ABL is about to begin, and you don't want to miss it.

How can you be a part? Well, it's quite simple.
  1. Head to http://baseball.fantasysports.yahoo.com/b1 and click to sign-in. Either sign-in with an existing account or make a new one.
  2. Click the button in the middle of the screen that says to either sign up for a team or join another team (if you already are in another league).
  3. Click to "Join Existing Custom or Public League"
  4. Click to "Join a Custom League"
  5. Enter the information for the league: League ID: 240032 Password: avian
  6. Make your team name, etc. and that's it! You're a part of the action now.
After joining the league, you can pre-rank your players for the draft, look at the player lists, post on the silly little message board, look at the league settings, and more.

Currently we have a live draft scheduled for Sunday, March 28 @ 3:30pm EST. This is subject to change, but the more time passes the less options we have. You do not have to be present at the draft in order to draft players. Your team will automatically be picked based on your own pre-rankings and the Yahoo! rankings system. Also, all of the league settings are subject to change based on feedback. Most everything is set to the default.

That's about it. Post any questions, comments, and whatnot that you'd like to, and I'll see you all in the dugout.

What are our other options for doing the draft? I'd like to be available to pick players myself, but I dont tihnk I'll be able to make that date/time.

Would anyone mind if we rescheduled the draft? I wont be able to make the current time this Sunday and I'd really like to be there to make my own choices.

Something during the week woud work for me if its after 3:10pm EST at the very latest.

Weekends are good for staying up late and doing it whenever. However, saying that, I probably will not be there anyhow unless it's at 9:00 PM EST, any day .. so, I don't have any problem with you changing it to whenever you'd like :)

I've got my team, but what are the rules/method for scoring points?

Anymore input on the draft time? It looks like I still have a decent number of options left (like any day is available), but the time is what is most important.

And from what it looks like so far:
Rom- Weekday post-3:10pm EST
Nasiobo- Any day post-9:00pm EST

And here is the info on the scoring. Works a lot more like fantasy basketball scoring works, if that helps at all. You're mainly trying to just get as many in each category as you can. Having a well rounded team pays off much easier in this than it can in fantasy football.

Yea, don't worry about my times :) It always so up in the air with me .. depending on what the kids are doing. 99.9% of the time they are in bed by 9:00 .. but, sometimes now. Yall go ahead an plan without reguards to me .. if I can show I will .. otherwise my "preselected" team will kick all your butts anyhow, so, I'm now worried :D

Well a draft after 9:00pm EST on Sunday would work for me as well if that helps.

I pushed the draft time back. It's now tomorrow at 9:30 pm instead of 3:30. I'm not even sure what times I can make this weekend. Next week is a big presentation/paper week for me.

Well, the draft is all set and we have our teams. Unfortunately, during the live draft something with IE was screwing up and I had to exit. Hopefully that didn't make the rounds last longer for you guys after I left.

I have a question with scoring, let me see if I can ask it in a way it makes sense. Do my players have to be active/off the bench in order for me to get their stats for the time they are active? For example, if say one of my benched pitchers is actually doing well, and I decide to make him active and in the rotation, do I get credit for his positive performance in past games, or only for the games that he's active during?

Also, what is the difference b/w the pitchers settings of SP, RP, and P? Are they scored differently?

I forgot about the draft, but it looks like I have a team...

I'll have to figure it all out from here.

Yes. You must have your players in one of your starting positions in order to receive the stats that they earn. You won't earn anything for a player's past performance if they've been on the bench.

The only difference is that only starting pitchers can be in the SP slots, relief pitchers in the RP slots, and any pitcher can be in the P slot. They aren't scored differently. They just allow someone to have a SP-heavy or RP-heavy pitching staff, as some can be played in the generic slot.

Former members of Suite 41 are heading the league this week, with the Bossmen in 1st and my Industrialists in 2nd. A disappointingly good showing on my part.

I started off good .. but, now my team sucks! I think it's something with my roster though .. I can't change my pictures! I get this::

There was a problem:
• That position has already been filled. (Error #159)
• You have an internal roster error. (Error #290)

I can't find anywhere in the help of who I can contact. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

I'm pretty much kicking ass and taking names, and, barring injury, I don't expect that to end.

I'm still maybe one or two moves away from solidifying my roster, but I think I have strengths in areas some other teams lack, so you may seem some trade action from me :)

Yes, Im still watching my team. My pitching is pretty crappy right now so Im interested in doing a little trade action for a hot starter. I have a few OF guys that are good. If youre looking to add some HRs and RBIs to your stats Im willing to trade Sammy Sosa.

I was able to re-arrange my roster ONE time. After that I started getting roster error anytime I tried to do anything. So, I have never been able to do anything with my roster .. any trades or changes, or anything, since that first time. So, with me not being able to change anything I just hoped for the best. Hehe, I think I'm in last? lol

Yeah, sorry I wasn't too active in this thing. I was kinda busy this year and my fantasy sports really suffered.

If you get a roster error trying to change players around, it's possible you're putting someone into a position already filled or you have a player in the DL slot and they're no longer on the DL. There may be a few more possible reasons for such a thing, but I can't think of them atm.

Nope, it's something really screwed up with the roster. I thought of all that when I was actually trying to fix it. At first I was getting internal roster errors, then other type of roster errors, now .. I can't remember the exact message, but, it's got the words fatal and internal .. something like there was an fatal roster error bla bla bla ... I tried for several hours a while back before I finally gave in. O well.

Nasiobo,
Somehow you got four batters on the bench when you should only be able to have two. :? Try dropping two of those guys and see what happens.

I have tried that :? I've tried lots of things. I somehow did something that I was not supposed to do .. the system let me .. and know it's all screwed up.

Ive had some problems in the past with moving players around from and into DL mostly but nothing as bad as youve had or have. Sorry dont have a answer :(

Rom, I got plenty of OF atm so a trade wouldnt help me out.

Also, I dont like this ranking system. I have been in 2nd place the whole season and I dont think anyone else has moved either. It just seems like nothing is happening when your players have a good week. Maybe its just me and I dont really care about baseball bt it just seems boring and stagnate.
