I just got my new hard drive in the mail. I bought a Seagate Serial ATA drive. Here's the problem....

I can't find the interface connector on my motherboard for the Serial ATA cable. The drive I'm currently using is not a Serial ATA drive obviously. What I'd like to do, is slave the new drive to the old one, but again, no interface connector.

Is there an adapter of some sort that I can buy or do you think I'm somehow missing the interface connector and I'm just missing it somehow? I don't know what kind of motherboard it is, but it's older. It came with the machine when i bought it from gateway.

ok, thanks to Rocklar, I found out that I need a host adapter card to make this thing work. If anyone has any experience with these adapters let me know. Any insight here would help.

If it's an old Mobo it probably doesn't have an SATA interface. The connections are a lot smaller btw, only about half an inch wide.

You can buy a PCI card that will allow you to hook up SATA drives. Had to get one myself when I got my 300GB dirve.

Why not change this title to Rocklar told me ... :P

He's a wealth of infromation, but not so good with on-site support.

We'll have to work on that, but I guess food isn't enough :)

Then again you never did have the Pesto-Pizza before.
