My company recently sent me an 8700c (which I like and can use much, much more than I thought I would) and, after visiting avian-gamers.net with the handheld's browser was wondering if there was a handheld-specific version.

I did a bit of searching on the forums for a reference to anything like that but came up empty. Anyone have any info on this?

What browser does it use? Does it look like it does when viewed in Opera Mini ( http://www.opera.com/products/mobile/operamini/demo.dml )?

I could probably rig a style to fit that.

Nice piece of equipment there Rocky. I've used it a number of times and am considering it as my next upgrade when my 7700 series bites the dust. (which if I keep dropping it on a regular schedule shan't be long)

Check out http://www.blackberryforums.com/

They've got lots of guides and tips on the 8700.

It's close to that - however I don't get the stair-stepping of the menu items I saw with miniOpera.

Thanks for the link, Golga - and yeah, now that I have one, I don't ever want to be without it! :P I never have to tunnel into work - corp email and chat are right here in my hand.

What do you mean by that? Where it's turning table columns into new rows?

Yes.

I've added an 'avian_pda' style that you can change in your profile. At the moment just the index page and the header is stripped down a bit, but it will take a while to fine tune as I can't see it first hand.

If you're interested, I located a Blackberry simulator along the lines of the OperaMini tool you linked above.

Just found this. Select "Blackberry Handheld Simulators v4.1" Once to the next page, select the "BlackBerry Handheld Simulator v4.1.0.194" download option. Because of geographic location, it may not be possible for you to DL this directly. Let me know if that's the case and you're still interested in this tool.

**EDIT**

Hmm, maybe not. The simulator runs but I can't seem to get it to connect to the net to access pages. I quickly dabbled in the network config options but nothing obvious stood out to me.
