It’s that time of year again, it’s time to start thinking about the NFL! Every year, for the past 5 years, Avian has held a Fantasy Football League for everyone to compete against each other and create some friendly rivalries and fun. Last year we had a turnout of 14 players and a fantastic season with DF taking the trophy from me in the Superbowl. But that was last year :P

Welcome to the 2006 Season of the Avian Football League (AFL)! I look forward to seeing all the regulars (veterans) make it back for this season with some new blood coming in to shake things up. I would like to, for the 3rd year, be the League Commissioner, someone’s gotta do it ;)

I know, I know :D It’s too early to start the league, we tend to wait until August to get it started and draft mid-late of that month before the start of the season on September 7th, but its always good to get the competitive juices flowing and get some interest generated. As always this league is open to any Avian member and there is a learning curve if you’ve never played in a fantasy league or don’t know much about football. However, we are more than happy to help you out, the more the merrier. So don’t be afraid to join us, its always a lot of fun. Please post if you are interested or have a question about fantasy sports, american football or anything!

For you Vets, are there any rule changes you want to see this year? Did you like the DL and DB roster spots that we had on the roster?

The Criticals will be back to avenge their Superbowl disappointment. 8)

I think it is good that you guys are starting to think about our fantasy football league this early. We have several new faces in WoW. Starting this thread so early will give them plenty of time discover our fantasy football league, as well as introduce them to some of our non-WoW members and our out-of-game lifestyle.

I had to stay out of the league for a few years due to college. But now that I am a working man, the Cyrusaurus Rexxors might be back in the league. Need to brush up on my armchair football skills!

You know I'm in.

I like the setup we had last year. I can't remember how many TE spots we had, but I'd like to request just 1.

AWWWWWW YEEEEEAAAHHHH!!!! The Hawkbats will definately be on the prowl again this season. After 3 disappointing seasons, it's our turn to take a run at the top dogs this year.

At very least, the Hawkbats are surely going to be in the running for the highly coveted Section Six crown. (what do we have this year? Four of us?)

I dont think weve ever had a flex position (WR/TE, WR/RB) in our league. Last year the Roster Positions were so:
Quote:
QB, WR, WR, WR, RB, RB, TE, K, DEF, DB, DL, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN

8 players so far, looking good

I'm fairly sure there was a WR/TE flex position. Maybe I'm on crack.

I'm looking at the settings for the past 3 years and weve never had a flex position, maybe there was a WR/TE spot in 2002?

I'm confused. (shocking isn't it?) Isn't a Linebacker considered the "DB" position? I can't find the player I'm looking for.

and you throw like a girl too :P

If you split a defense into 2 halves it's the line and the secondary.
Linebackers, Defensive tackles, Defensive Ends, Nose Guards are part of the line.

Corner Backs and Safties (SS/FS) are the secondary/Defensive Backs

I've always considered Linebackers defensive backs. meh

Our draft is 2 weeks away! :D

We have 8 teams currently signed up, with 3 more expected, making 11 teams total. We need at least 1 more team to make an even number of teams but I would really like to see at least 14 teams total. So get to talking to the Avians in-game (esp. in WoW :!: ) and tell em to get their football lovin' butts in here

cool Royur, welcome back! Noone has talked about the draft time yet so I assume everyone (on this hemisphere ;)) is ok with the time and date but we might be able to do it during the day on Sunday or something if that works better for everyone... but every season this is a huge headache making everyone happy :)

I will probably be very difficult to get me at the live draft and keep everyone happy as From Eastern I am 13hrs ahead I dont think others would like to have the draft at 10 in the morning, 11pm for me. Ill see what I can work out with the current schedule. I have an appt on the same day I may be able to get out of having to goto work for that reason thus being able to make the draft, but thats a big maybe. Its also difficult just watching games here, I usually have to watch reruns of the few games they play over here.

Yes, you can place people in an order you hope to get them in if they havnt been gotten. I was checking on that, I found that the order of the draft will be decided 30 minutes before draft time. Is there anyway to set the order earlier so that the people that cant be there can better set their choices to go with the order they fall into the draft at?

I guess we could set the draft order before the draft, it is possible, but weve never done it before and its always been random, 30min before the draft.

The way it would work I assume is I would pick names out of a hat for the order and set them but its up to yall if you want that or not...

So I take it theres no way of setting the draft order to be random say 24 hrs before the already scheduled draft time? If thats the case than I would say dont worry about it, sounds like to much of a hassle and I wouldn't want to break tradition.
