Hypothetically, if one wanted to create a site for a personal forum, what would the best way (and the cheapest way) be to go about that?

Are there sites out there with pre-fabbed forums, like there are webpages?

Are you sure you need a forum? Considered using a Blog? www.blogger.com is what I use.

Yeah, I kept a blog for a while. But yeah, I have a group of people wanting more of a forum type thing.

pretty easy. Most hosts have some type of forum that is pre-installed. If not PHPBB (what we use here) takes all of 7 minutes to install.

I use site5.com as does Avian and they seem solid but you can get any host for around 7 bucks a month. Dreamhost may be more friendly to a non-admin type.
