Somehow I missed this show when it started but people have been talking about it so I downloaded a few episodes to my iPod.

With a very few exceptions I have never clapped at the end of any TV show. After watching the first one I just sat there giddy as a schoolgirl clapping.

I have the rest of them downloaded now but I am rationing them out over the next few days.

This show is part, movie, part comicbook part amazing novel. I love it!

I saw the first epidoe and thought it could be incredible. I wanted to wait and not get too excited about it as...well you never know.

I have to say this is some of the best geek TV to come along in a long long time. I call it the quickest hour of TV. The only real downpoint I can see is that I have to wait another week for the next episode. :P

I did finally sit down and catch a recent episode. I am a little lost, but it is interesting to see the different 'powers' that the people had. Not quite hooked on it, perhaps I'll need to see more before I can make a solid decision.

The cliffhanger ending did leave me wanting to see what happens next though.

I'm doing some air travel for this Thanksgiving and was actually just looking for shows to download to my ipod. Thanks for the tip. I'll pick up the first 4.

Jen and I love it. We DVR it mondays and look forward to watching it during tuesday dinner.

The only issue I've had with it recently is the fact that it seems that EVERYONE is starting to get powers. I liked it better when it seemed like a select few were special.

I mean the Kid?! come on... (I understand the genetics argument but still.)

My oddball schedule precludes me really getting into a show during the season. However, I am definitely looking forward to downloading and watching the entire season in the space of a few days. :) Yeah, my real name is Adrian Monk.

Been watching it all season. Got the wife kinda hooked. I say kinda because the first few episodes were excellent, the latter few have been merely good.

heheh... Vlad thought it was so good and I was like 'meh, kinda lame' but the last few episodes, I think, have been really good.

Oh and Madson... I also thought it was a little too much that everyone seems to have a power. Although currently, I'm more of the thinking that.. obviously they're being brought together. Of course it would seem overdone but it's their destiny to come together because of these powers and what they can accomplish. So all these special seem common but really they're just being pulled into each other's lives. And yah, the kid and the brothers would be a part of the gentic story line.

I have turned into such a geek
I blame Vlad, married him and it's been downhill ever since!

That was mean.

And, while I wouldn't call it passion.. I enjoy the game. :P BUT it's his fault. I never played a video game one till I met him! I made fun of him for ages. I've always been a girly-girl.. wouldn't be caught dead at home in front of a PC either lol. He, of course, played all kinds of stuff and often. Once we moved in together it was find a game we both like and play, or I'd never see him. lol

Sorry to hijack, back to Heroes chat. :D

Great show. It's comfortably filling the void left by Lost when that one started to suck socks. I'm interested to see where it's heading - it seems that the plot is definitely leading to a finite conclusion in that with what's been revealed so far, they might answer some questions by the end of the season. Here's to hoping, anyhow.

I see two factions being formed (maybe 3). Obviously, they have revealed some things like Peter getting some type of horrid facial scar.

I downloaded and watched the first 4 or 5 and its got me hooked. The first two episodes were a little slow going but I think at this point its really picked up.

Hiro is my favorite. At first I thought he was obnoxious, but now I like him. :)

I watched the Monday 12/4/06 episode on DVR last night, I can't wait for the show to start up again! Now, for discussion's sake:

Do you think that PP nukes because he overloads with too many leeched powers? If so, how does Sylar keep his cool, since he does basically the same thing?

Other theories on why he pops would be interesting.

Any theories why Peter looks so sick in the last few scenes? I thought that maybe Claire's fathers proximity had somthing to do with it, though I can't put my finger on why. Maybe like the mind reader cop's feedback loop.

Leacher leaches the dampener's power, and then dampens the dampener which the leacher leaches again etc.

It didn't seem to effect Claire's dad though. Maybe he's less sensitive. Peter also still looked crappy after The Dad was long gone.

I'm also assuming that the Dad's ONLY power is the dampening of other powers. That could be an incorrect assumption.

I thought the Haitian was the "dampener", but never thought about the father. After all he was in the interrogation room and not the Haitian.

You are forgetting the guy who has this power from a previous episode. Plus, PP won't die because he gets some type of nasty scar on him face (Hiro visiting him in the subway with Mohinder and everyone frozen in time. hiro didn't recognize him ;) ).

as for the sick, yeah that is going to have to play itself out I think. Originally, I thought it might have been a reaction to the Dad's dampening power, but you pointed out the inconsistency in that.

Also, the cleaner, why is letting Claire keep her memories? What does he know that we don't?

I saw this show for the first time. I recorded it the other night on my DVR and just got the chance to watch it. Man it looked awesome.

Wish I had seen the other episodes.

I'm starting to wonder if we'll see a complete seperation of Niki and Jessica into two characters, or if it'll be a constant internal struggle for control. I don't see her controlling it, because really, if you're a good hearted person, you wouldn't want to summon a sociopathic murdered to handle a problem of yours.

**** SPOILER AHEAD ****

I think the mysterious black guy is the dampener, I'm not sure Claire's father has a power. For the interrogation room, the black guy is showed right after the scene so he was really near the interrogation room. Anyway each episode is best than the previous ! Fuck winter's break :(

*** SPOILER ALERT ***

I agree, I don't think Claire's Father has any disclosed powers. I think they call the dampener, "The Haitian". At least at one point.

Here are my musings.

1. What's up with the Scars the Cop discovered he shared with Pyro-Man?
2. What was it about the Cell that held Sylar in check, then didn't, and dont' tell me the dempener was near cause that would have been a stupid strategy considering the dampener goes for a walk with Claire's Father.
3. Why is PP sick..? (asked above)
4. Did super-memory girl have a purpose? Was her illness somehow triggered by something? (like the scars on the Cop)
5. How does Claire's Father know so much about all these events even before his introduction to Dr. Suresh?
6. Is Sylar really the only enemy? Who was it that the cop is ineffective against before his blackout?
7. Are the Cleaner and the Dampener the same person?
8. Why would he want Claire to know about the situation against the wishes of her Father?
9. Do the Trio (Quad) of Jessica/Niki, Husband and Son have a role to play? They've practically been a separate storyline except for a brief encounter with Petrelli, and Hiro's horny buddy.

I had one more but I forgot it...maybe I'll post it later.

This link is to the comic book / novels that go along with the show. They'll fill in some small gaps for people.

The last one was interesting as it answered for me a question about the mid season ending from that last show...

We know that "The Hatian" can erase memories (as stated in the last scene of the last episode) and that he CAN talk, even though earlier in the show the "Simon Says" girl (The one that was killed by Sylar) says somthing to the effect that he can't talk. He might be able to dampen & erase minds, but for some reason that seems... I don't know, "unbalanced" to me.

Golga Bolg wrote:

I think that hey have both been visited by Claire's father and the Hatian. Maybe tagged like wildlife or somthing. You know that the Government likes to keep track of special people, like communists.

Golga Bolg wrote:

I agree, this makes no sense. Unless there are more dampeners, or maybe a kryptonite like material. Maybe the "Simon Says" girl told the extra dampener person to leave so that she could use her power on Sylar, which restored his powers as well... but how could he resist her power?

Golga Bolg wrote:

I dont remember any illness that she had (i must have forgot or not noticed) And it does seem that she would have more of a role than a reality check / love interest for Hiro.
EDIT: The Fiancee reminded me about the waitress's Cancer, I totally forgot. One (weak) theory of mine is that she might be a example/reminder to Hiro that though he has power, he can't alter everything. Mother nature will still take it's course.
Golga Bolg wrote:

Excellent question, I'm guessing that he's part of a government agnecy, though that seems a bit cliche.
Golga Bolg wrote:

I think he's referring to trying to read "The Hatian" in that bar when he had just discovered his powers. Seconds before he blacked out.
Golga Bolg wrote:

As I said before, it's possible, but just doesn't seem right to me.

Golga Bolg wrote:

I agree, they MUST have some role to play, but is it just me, or does anyone else think that this story line is the least interesting? I was originally thinking that maybe she would be a secondary "Bad Guy" but it seems unlikley now.

Oh! What is up with all of those tatoos (that are identical to the drawing on Dr. Suresh's book) on most of the people with power. And did an did anyone else notice that on the DNA code on Dr. Suresh's computer, it makes an ascii art of the same symbol as it scrolls by.

Well, those are my musings on your musings! Tell me what you think.

I was referring to the guy the Cop takes a bunch of shots at and doesn't get hit, and then Claire's Dad and the Haitian come and wipe the Cop's mind. Is this Sylar, or how about Jessica's Husband?!??! (What's his name??) Maybe that's the link bringing them in......

Yeah, it was Sylar.

I wonder if Sylar's power is similar to PP. Though, he must have found a way to absord them (mayeb if that person dies while nearby?). I think that because, how else would he have survived the fall without flight or the cellular regen?

I think the idea about 2 Haitians might be a good one, rarely have we seen someone with 2 powers. Though PP tends to have those future flashes :).

I think Sylar has to kill them in order to permanently absorb their power. I think that's why he cuts their brains out, he has to in order to "see how they work". I think you guys might be right, Their power could be exactly the same. That would make Peter’s dream where Sylar says “What do you know of true power?” make more sense.

That creates an interesting plot line. Two people with the same power; a power that grows more powerful when used evilly, how do they deal with it morally?

I just now got the chance to watch the last show. I thought it was pretty good. My question is is that painting of a man on fire PP? I assume it is sinch they had him in jail and I assume he was close to that guy that puts out the radiation and PP sucked up his powers. Does anyone know how long PP keeps the powers? Does it depend on how long he is around them or is it a certain length of time?

I'm loving this show. I'm glad the last two episodes started to answer real questions because I was getting antsy.

I'm guessing that he's (Claire's dad) part of a government agnecy, though that seems a bit cliche.
I'm pretty sure he mentioned being with the government during one of the last episodes.

It could be. I thought it was the other guy who they thought was Sylar at first. Isaac made that painting right before the guy escaped from jail by causing a huge fire.

Probably only a certain length of time I would guess. If it depends on how long he was around them then I would imagine Peter would be able to fly a great deal of the time since him and his brother seem to spend a lot of time together.

Even after I Tivo'd it and watched it for the second time - I still have to wait until next week to get more.

I feel like Cartman waiting for the Wii!

I did not get a chance to watch it last night. I watched 24 but recorded both. From the preview it looked like the second half of the season will be great. I can’t wait to watch it.

I too love how questions are being answered. I am glad you guys turned me on to this show.

BTW it is shown at least twice a week, once on NBC and then again on SCI-FI on Friday. I also think that SCI-FI shows the previous weeks episode in the hour before the new one so you can get 2 hours of fun if you ever miss one.
