Danyale and I will be spending a few weeks in Europe for my R&R time. I’m aiming to be off starting the first week of April. April 4th will be out 10th anniversary.

Is there any particular place that is outstanding that time of year? Italy has peeked her interest… I’m interested in England, France, or Ireland. However I’m thinking those places may be a bit cold in early April.

If you were going on a European vacation starting early April, where would you recommend?

I'm no expert on time of year, but I'd ask you two questions:

1. Have you been anywhere in Europe before?
2. Do you expect to go back to Europe again?

If this is your one chance I'd have different answers than if you expect to be able to go again. (Like you must see Paris once in your life, regardless of weather)

Don't go to Ireland expecting to meet Obo. He doesn't really exist. He's a bot.

If I'm incorrect about this, and he IS real, STILL don't expect to meet him. He doesn't like people. Or the outdoors.

Paris is apparently lovely any time of year.

I personally would recommend Vienna (capital of Austria for those that don't know! :P). It's nice and clean, very walk-around-able, and have the best tram system I have ever seen (which is not saying much!). Although, knowing a little German would probably help.

Anywhere in northern Europe is going to be reasonably cold (and wet) in April so wherever you go you such probably expect that.

In terms of England, it depends what you're looking for. If you like the countryside and want something nice and relaxing and quiet, I'd recommend one of the national parks. If you want tourism, go to London! Again, classic English April weather is rain, so if you plan a lovely countryside week, it could be a bit of a washout!

i think amsterdam(thats in holland) is a good place to go, it has lots of history and nice places to see, but its more known for the red light district and drugs(thats not all there is)

but its in holland, and weather here in april can be really cold, but could be really hot too

and id suggest paris, been there, lots of nice buildings, but i thought everything was expensive(and dont go there for the food, the good places are expensive, and most cheap places dont serve actual food)

(because steel expands when its hot, the eifel tower is bigger during sumers then during winters, i think it was 6 or 7 inches bigger)

Weather is quite uncertain in Paris in april, you never know what you'll get.
Of course by the time you come in, I'll have moved to Ireland and got stuck with Obo instead.

Are you serious? You're moving to Ireland?

Okay what is it with you all moving to Ireland? I know it's a lovely place an' all but one country can only cope with so many immigrants!

Possibly yes, nothing certain yet. That's likely to be decided before end of february I guess.

X2, the answer is the last word of your signature.

Quite right! Here's to the black stuff!

Next year, we'll be set to have Avi-Con Dublin. We might even invite the Brit, if we can get him to leave his cubicle long enough. :P

A holiday in Ireland might be interesting. I've always wanted to visit.
