Team defenses are fine, just don't make me get stuck with Houston again.

I'd prefer players. It's not as much fun if you let non-fantasy managers do the picking for you.

Ok, I don't know who all remembers last years Football try, but I do remember that someone said that we should do it again. So, is anyone up for it? If so we need a Commish I have only participated in one league so I don't want to be the commish. I know with SWG we won't have as much time to invest in it, but I still think it could be fun. (we used yahoo last year)

First Game is Sept 4.

Oh ya, Cyrus was victorious in last years try with the team Cyrusaurus Rexors.

Yes, definitely me too. However, I don't know about the live draft. It is going to be basically impossible to do with the wide variety of time zones and work schedules that we all have. But I'm definitely in, no matter what.

well I'll assume you know what American Football is (big fat men running around with a little ball trying to cross 100 yards of a field to score...)

Fantasy footbal, you select players from any of the NFL (national Football league) teams and create your own team. Every week that your players play they recieve points based on their playing..if they sack some quaterback a bunch you get more points..if your QB is laying on his back all day in the turf...you can get - points...in anycase you draft, then organize your roster every week. Basicly the Old School way of playing football using the current players...(before Madden 2003 :) ) at any rate its fun...

Actually that isnt a problem at all. Just let it go through the default draft the program supplies. Hell, SLuggy played last year and he's all the way in France and didn't even know American Football rules. :)

Ah, the hurricanes name is also Ditka.

Ok, so do we have a volunteer to start up the league. I think we will have enough teams.

I'll be a the commish if no one else wants to...its pretty easy stuff to set up...I'll set it up on Yahoo...

One thing..on yahoo there is an option for a offline draft type thing where...we select picks in order but when its your pick you can do it later that day so its not really live but does have the advatage of not going through a set list of players...

Also do we want defensive teams or to select each defender our selfs

I've never done the live draft. I've always done the offline. seems like it would be less hassle. Dunno, cuz like I said, i've never done a live one.

I've done live draft before. If you preset your rankings, the comp will draft for you, so I think the live draft is the way to since if you cant make it, it will just work automatically for you. BTW, if you have a spot, I would love to do this, too.

I'm glad to see there's interest in this again. I ran the league last year, and I'd be happy to be the commish again this year. Yahoo will probably be the league of choice, or maybe SI. I used both last year and Yahoo is a lot easier to maintain and also easier for those who aren't too knowledgable to have some understanding on what to do.

The thing to keep in mind is that you can have up to 20 coaches in a league. If we generate more interest than that, than it's possible that we can make another league. I think the best way to split things up is to have a serious and a casual league. But, this totally depends on how many are interested. It doesn't matter how much or little you know. Besides even if you do nothing it will autodraft the highest ranked players available. :D

I'd really like to see us do a live draft. It really is a lot of fun, and if you want to show up you can. If you don't, you don't have to, and your players will still be drafted. You can also preset a selection list if you don't want to use the default list (which goes from the highest to lowest ranked), and it will autodraft from this list before going on to the default list.

On the subject of defenses:

I would prefer to just pick overall defenses, rather than having a couple of defensive players. In my experience, it is always a pain in the ass dealing with all the defensive stuff, especially if you aren't a die hard football fan, and picking individual players usually doesn't net you many points, especially for the time involved. That is just my opinion, though, but I like just picking team defenses.

I'm also leaning towards that side Cetera for many of the same reasons. The key is I want this to be easy enough for the newbies, interesting enough for veterans, and fun for everyone. Defense is a lot harder to forecast anyways.

Not to mention the fact that I'd have to balance all the point totals for defense as well, because you have to allow a CB or FS the potential to score as many points as, say, a LB or lineman.

If anyone has any huge objections let me know. Otherwise it'll be team defenses.

BTW, im a noob to the fantasy football. I do play Madden from time to time but never done this with other people. Im gonna reserch this a bit on Yahoo.

I think we should have playoffs of 8 teams Weeks 14, 15, 16. thats what I remember doing last year, especially with the turnout of this year.

It doesn't look like the offence loses any for a sack. 1 more thing rushes don't normally break for 20 yards. I think 10 yards for 1 point would let you get more out of RB's, and I think fractional points should be allowed. Just a suggestion(s). Other than that I see nothing else that can draw a comment out of me.

ok added sacks..makes sense as Interceptions are on

changed it to 8 team playoff..more teams make playoffs basicly starting week 14..

I will also have a Score card you guys can use..as your totals will not be figured out untill gameday is over...and with a simple excel sheet you can figure it out pretty easy..
