I'm pretty excited! I just finished putting Once Upon a Time in Mexico together, invited a bunch of my friends to my theatre and now we are just about ready to screen it ! I really enjoyed Desperado, and I hope this one is as much fun!

It was good! I don't want to spoil anything. The only bad part was our DTS machine is getting rusty and it kept jumping out of DTS to the standard music playing the lobby . I'll have to fix that in the morning

You a projectionist? of the traditional type? (ie showing film rather than a DVD)

Cause I am too! What projectors do you use?

Yeah, actually I managed to work my way up to General Manager . But we use Simplex Projectors, they are pretty standard in most the theatres I've worked at. Three platters, Dolby Digital sound. One DTS unit.

Even as I was typing this my assistant just called me because she had a brainwrap and the failsafes did not start beeping to warn her. So....she has about 10 minutes of film wrapped around the core . That works out to about 1000 ft of film!!

How about you X2, what kind do you use? What size theatre do you work in?

I work in a show theatre that had a function room converted to a cinema.
Both auditoria can show films though. The main one is 500 seats and the small cinema is 100 seats.

The Cinema houses a Cinemechanica Vic 5, and the main one houses a kinoton (not sure of the model). Neither has platters (the boxes are quite small), the kinoton uses a tower unit and the Vic 5 has a horizontal long play system (try lifting 3 miles of film on a long play spool, man that's heavy!!)

The cinema has Dolby Digital and the other aud uses an ancient Dolby - A system!!

Oh and half the mechanical bits don't work!

HEy.. you guys got me excited. I went out this weekend to a film theater/brewpub that was showing Matrix II. Damn, that's a good movie.

Seemeed kinda... sacreligious to watch the Matrix in Analog, though.
