Here's the problem, I recently reformatted the hard drive and now my video card (Radeon 9k) isn't running nearly as well as it should be. Its performing just like the standard video card that came with my machine. Yes, I did install the driver btw. Should I try reinserting the card?

Try re-inserting it.

Also check in windows which driver it claims to be using in the display properties. If its not a RADEON one then you have to disable the onboard graphics driver, probably an option in the BIOS

I also suggest you download the latest catalyst drivers from ATI, its always better to be as up to date as possible.

Excellent recommendations from BlackJim. Let us know the outcome!

Also follow the ATI catalyst install instructions.

I had a problem a while back where I installed the new catalyst and never removed the old... and that messed some things up. The instructions recomend removing the old driver, then when promped direct it to install the new one.
