Who's up for it this year? I missed last year, but really enjoyed playing the year before. We're a bit early to get this started, but the sooner the better.

We've used Yahoo the last couple of times. Its free, easy to use and set up, and generally hassle-free. If no one else wants to be commissioner, I'll get a league set up for us here in the next couple of days.

I think it might be best if we wait till we get closer to the season. That way people don't sign up, forget about it, and then we have "idle" teams all over the league.

The Hawkbats are already in training for the new season! ;)

But like Rom said, lets wait until closer to the season to set up the league.

Sluggy joined in on the first year. It won't be hard at all. Just let the system pick your guys, then just leave them where they are positioned. That is unless someone gets hurt, but it will tell you when that happens.

Does anyone have any interest in adding another spot to the roster? I was thinking of having 1 Defensive player per team. This (I think) means we can pick up a LB or any other Def player. Good idea? Bad idea?

I thought you got to pick an entire team for your defense with points be what the team did in total. OR are we going to make a custom scoring system?

It's my understanding that you can customize it however you want. I think Acritus is suggesting that on top of the team D, you also get one additional defensive player. Am I correct Acritus?

If so, there are pros and cons to the idea. It doesn't really matter to me.

Yup Talon, I was suggesting we have both a Team Def and 1 Def player on our roster. I think this small addition would spice things up a bit, but if its unpopular then nevermind :)

We should probably specify a position (LB, CB, DT, etc.) and not just 1 Def player.

I'm in by the way. The Commandos are looking to avenge their terrible post season.

Im looking into what players can be put in the Def Player postion and if it can be restricted to a certin position. I agree that it would be best if every team had a LB and not just a def player.

EDIT::

For the Def Player position (D) you can have a DB or DL in the spot. However, we can have a spot for a DB or DL and have the D spot none exsitant. Hope that made sense.

This will add a whole new leel to the game and draft so im not sure if its a good idea, but it still depnds on what yall think and want.

How soon is too soon btw?

Sry for the double post, I just want to keep the discussing going so ppl dont forget about the AFL

So the biggest news of this week has been former Ten Titan Eddie George has signed to Dallas on a 1-year contract. George is going into a filled back with Julius Jones expected to start for the Cowboys. George is expected to make an immediate impact but his numbers have been droping since the 2000 season. Im not sure what the situation is like in the backfield now that their main guy has left. Titan QB McNair is coming off a Co-MVP season so it is assumed that Tenesse would not be running the ball, instead using McNairs arm to do the workload.

So the big question is how does George's move affect his Fantasy Stock? Going into a system and a confrence that is "stacked" will he improve his numbers or once again, be put on the bench of the owners?

My take is that this improves the back's stock a little bit, not much though. Bill Parcell likes to use a big back to pound the ball down the Def throat. I think Parcell will use George as much as he can but will also use his young backs too. George is undetr pressure to preform with just a 1-year contract with Dallas and he is a workhorse. All of this to me turns George into a much more valuable option in the draft. What do yall think?

Ive briefly talked to Cetera about starting the league soon. The consensus was that he would wait to make the league.

Im just curious for input about a draft date inbetween 8/20 - 8/22. That is next weekend. Is that too early for most of you? The games start on Sept. 9 so we do have some time to do this draft, but its quickly running out.

I think im too excited about football this year...

Still looking for input on a good draft date. If you dont tell us when you want the draft you run the chance of it conflicting with RL issues (duh  )

It seems we will have a pretty full league this year. Ive counted 15 ppl so far that want in. This is great, hopefully this will mean more action then late last year when some teams "dropped out"

Although the problem comes up about the Bye weeks. If we have an odd number of teams then there will be a bye week in which one team will not play, but your players will. This can be a big bummer and I would like to avoid it as much as possible.

Two solutions: We get another Avian to sign up for a team or (and I would not like to see this happen, but) ask a member to leave and play next year. The second option would suck but Bye weeks are horrible. Hopefully it wont come to that.

Little FYI, by this time last year we had drafted already

As long as it isnt on Thursday I'm ok with the draft date. Other than that feel free to set it up whenever.

Ive never set one of these leagues up before so someone whos had experience with it before can go ahead and set it up now so people can start joining.
