The Star Wars Collectables Thread

Man I hate being broke :) I have a vision, and that vision is having a nice office in my house, and within my office would be cool treasures that others with similar interests would die for. Being that I am a Huge Movie fan that means my office would contain Movie treasures… particularly Star Wars memorabilia.

Personally I am not into the “Toys” very much. I had them as a kid, and played them till they fell apart… but now, unlike many Star Wars fans, I care little for the vantage toys. I am more into replicas. Real looking items from my favorite films… that is where my future paycheck is going.

The following is a list of Star Wars Collectables that interest me. I want to know what you know about these collectables, do you like them, do you dislike them, have you owned them, would you rather own another type of collectable.

    Master Replicas
I have been eyeballing their stuff ever sense they opened shop, but being that I am a student, I have yet to take the plunge and buy anything.

I like their signature series Lightsabers, and the SE ones to a lesser extent. Han’s gun looked kind of cool, and the Storm Trooper gun does too.

Kotobukiya Star Wars Soft Vinyl Model Kits
I ran across this stuff when looking at the MR lightsabers on ebay. I like the Boba, Vader, and Maul ones the best.

    Code 3 Collectables
I ran across this stuff when looking at the MR lightsabers on ebay. I think I like all the ships they have.

    Gentle Giant's LTD
I think this Sandtrooper and Dewback Statue is awesome.

Anyway, I just wanted to know if any of you guys have experience with this stuff…. Or if any of you are like me, interested but cant afford at the moment. I want to know what you know about these collectables, do you like them, do you dislike them, have you owned them, would you rather own another type of collectable.

Please fill free to post your own favorite collectables.

I have that Master Replica's site bookmarked and love their stuff but llike you am too cheap to buy any. I think a saber along with Han's blaster would be very cool.

Those figures are also very "office worthy" in my opinion. How much does each go for?

The Kotobukiya are actually 13 inch models from Japan… unlike action figures you get them in pieces and have to glue them into what ever position you like. (looks like some positions are pre-designed) I was not crazy about the Jango ones I saw due to the jetpack flame art… but I saw one that did not have the jetpack flame art that looked very cool. I have also seen Vader in 2 or 3 different poses, so they seem to be customizable.

The Suggest Retail price for Vader said $100 but that was a copy of text posted on ebay so I am not sure if that is true. I see them on ebay starting out at $50 with most ending up selling for $80 to $100. I have not been looking at them long enough to see a common trend, but I guess that what I see on ebay now is the norm for these.

I am flirting with the idea of becoming an authorized reseller of MR merchandise. I think I would like doing that kind of thing as a side hobby. If I did it I could buy the merchandise in bulk at reduced prices, keep one item for myself and try to sell the rest to friends and to fans on ebay.

The problem is many of the coolest items have already sold out, and with EPIII just around the corner, I may have missed out on best opportunity. Another problem is the cost needed to get going. I would be better positioned to do this thing once I get out of college. Getting my wife to cough up the required money will not be very easy ATM.

Well I am now the proud owner of a 15.5 inch tall 1994 Darth Vader Cinemacast Statue. (seen behind Lucas in the SE interviews) All it cost me was whatever birthday and Christmas presents I had comming to me from my wife this year. Sure It will suck having nothing to unwrap in December… but right now it feels great.

Manufacturer: Hasbro
Release Date: 01 Jun 1994
Part No: 62402
MSRP: 159.99 USD
Country: United States

Description:
Not available for a decade, this limited edition cold-cast porcelain Darth Vader statue was sold by CinemaCast™, a division of Kenner known for precision in sculptural and decorative detail, in 1994. 180 pieces from the original 10,000 edition have been discovered in the Hasbro archives and are being sold exclusively at StarWarsShop.com. Each piece is in original packaging and is numbered with a Certificate of Authenticity. The piece was sculpted based on imagery from Return of the Jedi. Darth Vader seems to roar "Feel the power of the dark side of the Force!" as he raises his lightsaber skyward. This statue stands an impressive 15.5" inches on a two-inch step platform. A remarkable addition to any Star Wars collection.

Looks like the Lego Tie Interceptor is going to have to move aside and let Vader take his place in my collection spotlight.

Me too!

Unfortunately, all these items are waayyyy outta my price range since that darned US-CAN exchange rate adds a decent amount to the overall price.

Think I'll just have to settle for my collection of SW legos for the time being (until I win the lottery)...

Awesome.

But don't worry. Your wife will still get you something. Women always need to watch you open something from them on your birthday and X-mas. :)
