Should we change servers? Personally I have already made more progress so far than I could make up in two days, but I am not against moving. I believe if we wait though, this server will have no population problem when we are done. Let's get a poll of everyone's thoughts.

Edit: Because our server is being migrated to another DB cluster, that will maybe solve the lag problems.

I would have no problem with moving. So far I have only made level 7 wiht my main, and lvl 4 with an alt on another server. However, with my chars on Dalaran being blocked I could not get the names I wanted anymore.

Meh, I can amuse myself for a day or two. I don't see a huge reason to move.

However this is another mark in the minus column for Blizzard.

I can easily make up the time on my character.

but many people have progressed beyond level 10 (Kharlaq, ...) I say we create a PvP Char on Shadown Moon and give that a try. I can wait out the 2 days (even if it came at the worst possible time).

I feel no great need to move myself since I won't be able to play much today

That doesn't mean I won't move if that's the consensus. I completely understand Kharlaq's point of view of not wanting to move and maybe the best thing to do at this point is use this time to develop a character on a PvP server. We can use this time to work on new characters on the PvP server and still salvage all the time and effort we put into our Dalaran characters if we exercise a little patience and discretion.

I likely won't be around much today to discuss/act on this so I'm leaving it in the very capable hands of my Perimeter Guards.

Get the opinion of the Scouts to determine either a move to another server or the selection of a PvP server (just until Dalaran is back up). I'll try to check in from time to time but it'll be spotty.

I need to remind myself of this regularly.

Now they are saying the downtime will be two days or more. I fear that the "or more" could turn into a lot more. I have no doubt the lag issues will likely be solved when the server comes back up, but when will that be?

So, no moving and starting up an Alternative Avian on a PVP server sounds fine to me. Would do that in a flash once we have decided which one.

Someone besides Tobias willing to get burnt on server choice this time? Arindel perhaps?

Yeah we should stick with Dalaran for our PvE ESPECIALLY because of this problem.

I say that because there's a good chance many people will switch servers and that means we should be on low population server when it does come back up.

I'll make a character on Shadowmoon.

What are we doing there horde or alliance?

Keep the same server... it will be 2 days TOPS. Play on another.. but we have a good thing going on Dalaran... I will play EQ2 until its back up anyway... but I think the Alt PvP server will be a fine temp solution.

I do have 1 other started on Kargath right now.

That is what I am thinking.

I see the idea to wait it out is not unpopular. We didn't have a plan in place for this contingency. What I want to do is set a firm number of days we will wait this our before switching servers, in case it is longer than 2 days. They have already extended from 1-2 to more than 2 days.

Just in case, (as a contingency plan) how long will we wait?

Blizzard is saying more than two days to be 100% covered, the server will probably be up before that.

Hopefully we will have a decision for everyone by tonight. Thanksgiving is not the most convenient day to have everyone around to make a decision. What I am hoping is that we can list another official PvE back up server besides the PvP server already listed. We might then set a deadline for the server to come back (this will be a longer time than what Blizz is currently saying) or the back-up becomes the primary. I know starting over is tough, I have done it twice now. But we will have a permanent home before long and this nightmare will be over.

Toby and I talked about the server situation and I agree with him 100%. /wipes the brown stain off my nose.
I like the potential of coming back to an underpopulated server and catching my stride after I've had a little time to toy around with throw away toons on other servers. I don't want to wait indefinately though... I think choosing a contingency server now is a great idea as well, eventually I will tire of spinning my wheels. I plan on doing a little PvP in the interim and I'd like to make toons for the contingency server ASAP if/when that decision is made.
I know thanksgiving day isn't the greatest time to make this kind of call - but if those who are around and will be playing just pick one server and run with it, I think it will work out better in the long run. the rest of the folks can catch up when they are done with their holiday madness. having a few folks leveled and started on their professions on a single randomly selected contingency server today will far outweigh any precieved benefit from waiting around and making a decision days from now.
of course this is all my not so humble opinion.
tonite I'll be making toons on Shadowmoon and Kargath - Kargath only because someone else mentioned it. all my alliance mains will be Zexlos, all my horde mains will be Zexloz. look for me if any of you are on in the next couple of days until this mess is cleared up.

what i am doing is well our PvE is done is going though the quests and leveling up crits so i can find ways to make it faster and what techs work and how to maximize my leveling in the starting area so far i have find Human noob area to be easier atleast to me then any other

My brother, and his guild are playing on the Silverhand server, so I decided to start a character there and play with my a brother a bit.

I currently have an orc warrior. He's level 9, almost level 10. I plan on keeping him there indefinitely.

His name is Ktar.

With a max of 50 characters I don't why you wouldn't keep him indefinitely.
