Anyone else excited about Sony's new handheld gaming/music/video system called the PSP?

It was recently launched in Japan and I've been keeping an eye out on news and system secs over at gamespot.

I think it is really great that someone (again its Sony!) is taking a chance and trying to up the bar a bit in the handheld market (or should I say, "Mobile entertainment"). Nintendo is a good company, their gameboy currently rules, but their stuff gets so stale. Happened right before the Playstation's launch too. Why I haven't bothered with them for years (though I might grab a used gamecube for the "realistic" Zelda they are working on) after being a loyal customer.

I don't know if I'll get one right off the bat (think they are going to be price around 150-200 here in the US), depends on the stats I hear coming out of Japan an the launch titles. The Hot Shots golf game I loved on the Playstation, that will be very cool to hook up to the net or hit a hot spot for some mulitplayer.

So I am the only one. :P

From what I've heard/read this thing is pretty damn cool. User reviews of the Jap version (which can play games from any region) are about 8-10 out of 10 which is amazing considering its Sony's first product in this area I believe.

I've got links to great videos of the system in action and more info on just what it is/does if anyone is intersted, I might post a few.

Not the only one :P

PSP looks awesome. I'm not going to buy one though. I plan on waiting until someone else gets it so I can look at it first and then decide. Also I'd like to wait until they have some more variety of games out.

Thats a relief. I bet the buzz will get hotter when people who haven't been paying attention get to see some commericals related to it next year.

Here is a pretty huge review of the PSP itself and games, along with movies and such if just cause:
