assuming that admiral was british, he was correct. the british used battlecruisers, lighter and more manueverable, yet as the Hood would find out in WWII, battlecruisers were no match for battleships when they found the range. the battle of jutland was the largest naval engagement of WWI and the british lost quite badly, however the germans would never set sail again. so the number of ships lost (point germany) did not determine the dominance of the seas (point britain) so the question remains, why not sail again if the numbers pointed to germany? the reason... germany never knew that they were able to dominant britain, all they knew is that the british "crossed the T" twice and moral was defeated. this history lesson was brought to you by theantimole.
