Just checking in here, as the proposed merger has been brought up to the rest of the leadership of my guild.

To be straight with you guys, we are experiencing some growing pains, as the guild system in EQ2 definitely has some drawbacks. i.e. everyone wants to be a patron to help out, but having everyone and their alts be patrons has it's drawbacks.

However, we have grown from a group of 5 real life friends to about 20 mains, and everyone we've recruited has turned out to be great. The problems we are facing are actually good problems.

Let's keep the discussion open and make sure all of our needs are met.

Absolutely, good to see you here Derian!

I'm having a problem since my first post on your boards in that every time i log in i can't seem to move off the login page. I think it's a staton players issue.

I will be on and off through out the day here...but won't be online tonight. Need to go out with the boss and schmooze!

Yes, the station players login thing has been a bit of an issue lately. Some remedies to try are to refresh the fullscreen login screen and then hit submit and/or to click the save password box.

A little bit about me is that I'm the leader that probably best represents the casual player. I usually don't get home from work until 7:00, so if I do jump on, it's only for an hour or two, and then on the weekends I might play all day, but then I also just have to go out to the bar and schmooze with some real people or do other real life things, too.

I do my best to sometimes jump into guild chat from work, check and read the posts on the boards, etc.

Some of what I gathered is that you guys do a lot of roleplaying? That is something that I think is missing from the guild a little bit. That's the drawback of using voice chat, but I think the benefits of it outways that. It makes everyone seem more real and friendly.

Well, my boss is kind of hovering outside of my office. I better STFU and GBTW.

I would say we are light roleplayers, definitely not hardcore...some members more than most at least in my experience. I think everyone enjoys a roleplaying experience and we have some that are excellent at it.

Thanks for the suggestions as well, but so far they haven't worked. I posted in a thread on the forums that lists a bunch of issues with stationplayers so hopefully the devs will get it resolved. If you don't see me posting...its not because of lack of trying :).

Lurgid, Welcome to our forums!

I am afraid I am not an EQ2 player, but none the less I wanted say how pleased I am to learn that our guild and your guild may be able to help each other out.

If you have any questions about Avian please feel free to ask in the forums, or shoot me a PM. Again I am afraid I don’t know much about EQ2, but I have a good grasp of our history, our current direction, and how we have evolved into the Multi-Gaming Player Association that we are today.

Yep, Welcome!

I'm also not a EQII-er, but am very interested in hearing about it (used to be an EQI-er). It's also pretty cool to hear about how other guilds handle themselves and work together. Glad you're here.

Welcome!

Do any of you or your guildies play other online games like SWG or WoW?

We are on the Chilastra server for SWG and the Dalaran server for WoW. Feel free to look us up if any of you are around!

Hey, everyone. That station players forum is really starting to piss me off. The founders of our guild used to play SWG on Eclipse, including myself. Some of us may be going back now that it's been added to the All Access Pass. I had a Master Combat Medic / Master Rifleman on there. My brother had/has the second Jedi on Eclipse.

I'm much too much of a casual player to be involved in more than one MMORPG.

A question for you guys, if we are to start using your forums, is there a way to break it up from one general forum to at least a tradeskilling forum and maybe a leadership council where only designated officers/leaders could discuss things?

Welcome to the Avian forums, Lurgid.

I'll be playing EQ2 once I get my new computer, and I look forward to seeing you in-game. :)

Darien,

Currently our forum structure breaks down along the following lines:

- Public- the forums you see broken out by game and topic

- Game Specific - So for me, since I have a WoW and an EQ2 account I can see those 2 forums. Posts in here deal with play time coordination, questions ref: game mechanics, etc

- Avian Parent Forums - There are two forums I can see here one of which is general and one of which is my Section board. The general forum is for issues, topics, questions, comments related to Avian as a whole. Announcement about elections or requests for additional sub-guilds are made here. There are also 7 section forums. Every body in Avian belongs to a section that elects a rep to the Board of Directors. Section forums are used to vote on applications, things of that nature.

There is a BoD forum that I do not see as I am currently not a member of the Board. This group runs Avian as whole, but while specific leaders and officers run specific sub-guilds by game. At the present, the sub-guilds do not have a separate forum where officers congregate or have discussions, but that doesn't mean it couldn't happen.

For each game we have a public forum. You are in the Public EQ2 forum now. Ever sense a forum revamp we had a few months ago, we try to post as much material in the public forum in order to entice guests, potential applicants, and other Avians into playing this particular game.

For each game that needs one, we have a private member forum. Our EQ2 members have access to this forum. Here they can talk about things that they don’t want others to know about such as: Raid plans, economic strategies, Arguments between members, problems with other guilds... ie stuff we want to keep to ourselves.

For each game that needs and requests one, we provide a Government forum. In these forums government can plan and discuss things that may not be ready for the membership to know such as: Disciplinary action, or fine-tuning text proposal text, leader brainstorming.

While we do try to keep the number of forums to a minimum (limit wasted space) we can and do provide various member level forums and government level forums. SWG for example uses a business forum as a “Want to buy” “Want to sell” bulletin board. SWG also uses some Gov level forums to run their guild.

Here is a pic of the index… hopefully it will give you an idea of what exists and what is possible.

Excellent. Things seem to be very well organized, and there is quite some excitement on our end.

I've posted on our guild forums asking the membership to respond with who plays other games.

We received guild level 4 last night, which means one more level and others will see our guild tag. The "Order of Norrath" is aligned with Qeynos (the good city), but we also accept members from Freeport (the evil city). On the crafting side of things, it's starting to pick up. We have a couple of dedicated crafters and we basically offer about a 50% discount to guild members.

See you guys in game!

Hello, I just wanted to stop by and say Hello, on behalf of the Order of Norrath. I am Lorranna and I am one of the Leaders and founders of the Oder. It is nice to meet everyone and see that there is such an interest in EQII and our guild in general. I used to be a Hardcore SWG (Radiant) gamer, but switched over to EQII when it came out. I really love the game, and have become somewhat addicted, I have been thinking about playing SWG again though I must admit, my husband just got that all pass (whatever) so that SWG is included too. Well, I just wanted to say hello and let you know I do read the forums! :P Hope to hear from you soon!
Lorranna

Welcome all of you! Not an EQII player, but thought I'd say hi... and it's cool to see a possible merger of the minds.

Latruce, I've finally remembered to add you to my friend's list, so hopefully we can move forward next time we are both on together.
