With my old buddy Rom growing up, graduating, and getting a Real job, I started thinking about the rest of us guys slugging it out in school. Who all is still jumping through hoops, trying to graduate? What else do you have left before you graduate? Have you been looking at employeers? If so, who and where?
I am still in school. I should be graduating this December. If something happens and I miss my December graduation date Danyale will surely kill me.
This semester (spring) is just about over. With finals still hanging over me it is imposable for me to predict my final grades... but if I had to guess I would say I will have all A's or B's.
All my friends at school think I have lost my mind. The classes I am taking this summer are some of the hardest in my whole curriculum. They say taking one of these classes is hard enough in the summer. I am taking 4 classes this summer… 3 of them being extremely hard. However I tend to make my best grades over the summer.... so I am hoping the compressed schedule will be good to me one last time.
This summer I am taking:
Construction Materials
Physics II
Construction Law
Human Behavior in Organizations
Compared to my Summer schedule, my fall schedule will be much easier. Only 2 of them will be demanding outside of class, with the rest being easy as long as I attend class.
This Fall I am taking:
Construction Enterprise
Managerial Accounting
Highway Construction
Small Business Management
Industrial Construction Estimating
As far as interviewing goes, I have just barely scratched the surface. All the company presentations I have attended here at LSU have been companies either looking for interns, or looking for final semester seniors. I didn’t meet either of those criterion, so I just used the presentation as a chance to learn what employer’s are offering. I imagine that I will start working on interviewing much harder once I get within striking distance of my final semester. I had planned on doing much better at all this… but as it turns out planning interviews too far in advance is not what many employers are wanting to do.
I have been in contact with two of my former bosses who have started their own company in Houston TX. They have mentioned several times that they want to hire me as a Project Manager/Engineer. I like the options I have with those guys, they will pay me competitively, and I get a truck and other small perks with them… but I am scared that they may be too small and not able to give me the atmosphere that will make me happy. I will visit them this summer and try to nail down salary and working duties/conditions.
Anyway that is my info. Where are you guys at in school?
