I just started a mage and I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips on how to use the talent points at this time she I am mainly going fire. But if someone has a better way to go by all means tell me. Thanks.

I'll post my idela build when I get a chance (probably tomorrow).

Improved Fireball 5/5
Flame Throwing 2/2
Impact 3/5 (best for soloing, you could even max it before range, but range will buy you more time)
PyroBlast 1/1 -- ASAP
Ignite is excellent but needed more later

That will get you to level 20 I think

Do you solo mostly or group?

For end-game you mostly going PvE or PvP?

I can not remember what I have now. But I will do mostly groups and I am on a PvP server.

It's a pretty straight 21arcane/30 fire build. It's pretty much a cookie cutter build, but I guess because it works. I've tried many builds, and this is by far the best for me.

I pretty much only pve, but this can be effective in pvp having POM and pyro and blastwave. It's a good build for dungeons but you'll need to watch the aggro.

I would go for Pyro first, then flamethrowing, then ignite and improved fireblast. At that point you may want to switch over to arcane as those talents are really nice for grinding. Clearcasting and Evocation are really sweet.

I think Deak is a fire mage too, so hopefully he'll give his 2 cents as well.

I don't know if you'll want to follow me - but
I went for the massive DPS - ALL fire - which was great for me to level but now at the endgame (for now) i've found that my casting time & lack of close range can really kill me in PvP. I'm looking at doing a re-build, pulling some combination of improved scorch/fire ward/incinerate and ignite for improved arcane explosion with arcane concentration with it.

Going a step further, I would try giving up combustion for PoM. Would look like this

Interesting build Deak, especially in the Arcane tree. I'm curious to know what kind of wand you have and how much damage you do with it.

I miss both burning soul and impact from previous builds but the pure damage bonus from Ignite is truly amazing.

Basically, Ducky, these two fires builds show the difference between PVE and PVP, at least, IMHO.

Well I am going to focus on PvP so which one would be the best??

Go with the PvP build, unless you want to PvE to get to 60 faster, then do the PvE and respec when you are at 60 or close to 60?

well I plan to do a little of everything. I am at level 24 now and I do some PvE and when i am in my group I do some PvP.
