Having never had to join a corp, I'm not 100% sure on the procedure, but I thought I had seen the option before.
I'm going to try and meet up with Liro to see if I can get it to work.

Of course if I actually read up on it before hand.... :P

We're both heading to Kisogo if you are near there.

I was dropped four times in 10-12 minutes and now am sitting dead in space. As far as I can tell, there's nothing wrong with my ship but rather a game issue. I try to engage AB and get a message to the effect that I cannot do that now because my ship is realigning it's magnetic fields.

Sorry, Obo. I probably won't be in Kisogo when you get there. :( But I'll keep trying for another 20-30 minutes.

The only time I've been stuck is when I started a warp jump that was too close to a station I just left. I had to wait for the ship to inch past the station, as I couldn't find a way to abort the jump.

Bah, you pulled me into a trap! :P

Had to disconnect and now it's taking a while to log back in, which I've never had before.
Just got a message that they are going to bounce the server in 20mins, so there must be some problem.

Ah, that explains it. I tried a few times but couldn't get past the "Entering the game as..." screen. I'll try again this afternoon.

I was just running the tutorial and, due to lag, managed to bankrupt myself buy buying 20 odd shield boosters from the market!!!

Will terminate the Char and try again!

OK, now I feel inferior. :)

Where in the tutorial do you get the implant? I made the mistake of buyng a ship that doesn't mine... and now can't re-finish the tutorial until I buy a better ship.

The server says it's coming back up in 5 minutes. Ping me as "Big Yak" if you need another person to test joining the corp.

I think it is a few story missions after the tutorial (the tutorial agent will send you to another agent). I never got that far because I ignored the second agent when she offered me a mission in my trial and she won't talk to me now. I haven't tried doing any other agent stuff since yet.

Does "proxy not connected" under server status mean that the server's down or that there's a problem my end?

yeah since the last patch there are freezing issues and lag issues. All of which I am confident the devs are well on top of.

I did a search for Avian Tech and tried the right click and could not join. Im pretty sure you need to be at its home port to join.

I should be on late tonight and tomorrow evening.

Dev blog post on the server load

http://myeve.eve-online.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&bid=299
Quote:
Greetings EVE Players, long time since I've done a blog...

Red Moon Rising is out and as you have probably noticed we are still dealing with issues from the deployment. RMR is a rather big change, in many aspects close to Exodus in scope, especially at the lower levels. RMR contains many optimizations and improvements behind the scenes to deal with EVE's continued success (BTW thank you so much for that, EVE owes much of it's success to you the EVE Player community).

As the game grows and we stubbornly maintain our goal of one cluster, we have to take a more drastic approach to platform management than before. The gradual addition of hardware and on going software optimizations are not able to keep up with EVE any more. Oveur recently did an excellent blog describing our efforts.

The urgency of the situation becomes evident when we do updates of the scale of Red Moon Rising. The margin of error is virtually non-existent as we are already so close to the glass ceiling of our current cluster architecture that the smallest mis-configuration leads to us banging against it. This causes effects which we just witnessed at 15:00 GMT today.

We have been doing research into how we can considerably increase our headroom, the first step was the Ramsan, the next step involves a move to 64 bit architecture. We have brought Christian Tismer, the godfather of Stackless Python to Iceland and him and porkbelly are here at the office busy figuring out how to squeeze all potential power out of the x64 AMDs we are planning to build our next major cluster upgrade on.

Next to them Papasmurf and Dr.J are feverishly calibrating all pistons of our current cluster to focus all computing resources in the right areas so that RMR will hold the 25.000 PCU we seem destined to achieve before we manage to have the new super cluster hardware assembled, delivered, installed, tuned and tested.

The hardware needed to increase our headroom isn't something you can go to the store and buy. We have world experts assisting us and after everything has been completed the EVE cluster will probably be the first game related cluster site to rank on the Top500 list.

Anyway I wanted to offer my small reassurance that we are focused on backing our commitment to single cluster for the world wide market (The China cluster is a whole different ballgame which warrants a separate blog) and we fully realize that seriously increased hardware and R&D investment is required to back it and that will be done.

In the short term we have world leading experts in MMO development working around the clock here at the office, ignoring all other commitments (which understandably are considerable this close to Christmas). I remain in constant amazement how committed our developers are to make sure we pass each hurdle, commitment that is only matched by the understanding of their families.

In the long term we will build a completely new cluster utilizing all modern day technology to construct something at the scale needed to simulate nuclear explosions or the earth's weather system.

So this is blog is our plea to you, the EVE Player community, to yet again give us a chance to resolve these matters and to explain that we have long term and short term goals to remedy the situation as quickly as possible.

Of course EVE Online is a commercial venture but seeing what we have achieved together often makes you think otherwise. We here at CCP remain committed to keep up our end of the bargain. With your help we'll take MMOGs to the next level.

Don't. I was fortunate and got in a mining operation with a huge industrial ship. I'd mine and drop the mined resources in a container of his and after around 45 min of that, he chugged his way back to do the refining and dumped a nice pile in my wallet. Took a little trust. ;)

Hmm.. I just reread alot of Moge's initial posts... very helpful now that I've been in-game for a few hours and have the context to understand what's going on.

I'm terminating Tetran now, and it'll take 10 hours until it's done. I had to log off in the middle of the tutorial the other day, and now I can't continue it. I don't remembr much on selling/reprocessing and all that jazz so I guess I'll start over. It's too complicated to try and pick back up.

Did you try gitting F12 (then 'Open Tutorials") and then stopping and restarting it?

I've cancelled and restarted it a few times.

Also, you get the implant after your 8th mission for the second Agent. I am Caldari, so it was mostly delivery/pickup missions. No fighting until the very last one, which was against a weak drone. One mission went into .5 space, but no badguys anywahere.

A nice way to make about 700k ISK after doing all the missions (and selling the implant for 400k).

Tetran. You need to go to the destination that it sends you to. Then you will see the Train Track type thing called an acceleration track or something. Approach it, left click on it and Activate or Use it. This will warp you to a speacial zone.

Inside I believe you will need to kill a few pirates, then use the gate again. Next you will need to mine some veldaspar. Use your Rookie Help channel to ask questions.

Okay, figured this out.
To apply to join the Corp, you need to go to Duripant VII - Moon 6 station.
On the right had side of the screen, under the available services at the station there is an "Offices" tab, this will show all the Corps who have an office at that station. Scroll down the list, look for us and apply.

Read this on the BillBoard ingame. I have had zero crashes and very limited lag all day.

Quote:
Yesterday, after a number of reboots for deploying server
hotfixes and doing a number of changes to our database
cluster, we were able to address the bugs which were crashing
Tranquility.

We're now in a situation where there are a number of bugs
which are severely affecting server-side CPU performance
which is the reason you are experiencing severe lag in loaded
systems. In some cases this can get so severe that you get
stuck. These are the ones we're focusing on addressing and
fixes will be deployed in daily downtimes during the next week.

In addition to this, there is more hardware on the way which
our CEO, Hellmar, explained in his recent dev blog. We're very
sorry for the inconvenience this is causing and we thank you
for your patience.

(Replied from the game-guide thread))

Nice, I'm going to try to get a badger tonight, then.

I'm pulling in about 50k/hour doing missions, and they're pretty easy to put on autopilot and only interact every 15min or so. Great for programming or taking the dog on walks. I only was shot at once, and autopilot warped me out in time.

Have you tried going for the more expensive ores? Rich Plagiocase? It seems that it sells for alot more after it's refined.

well moge is on a trail account and whenever I try and activate it the website says it cannot communicate with my card company :( so Im stuck with a trail account.

You cannot get any Industial ship skills with a Trial account. I was going to transfer the one Moniker has but she is caldari and far to far away to go pick it up. So for now I just mine small batches here and there on .9 space. :x but even then I make 70-80k an hour. Just running back and forth to unload my cargo bay is annoying.
