Well, let's figure out how to double-team that action. We can both mine a ton, then I'll run over in my big boat to pick it up. Anything to reduce the slow of travel time...

no worries. Moniker is halfway to Galante space. She is picking up a Badger 2 jumps away from Avian HQ so we can mine all we want. I run both accounts off the same comp so we can mine, moniker can guard us in her Missle boat then pickup out minerals later :)

yeah it is Dbakke!

Just to give an example of efficiency. I send Moniker away with a full load in her badger, which is about 36,000 units of minerals. By the time that slow tub returns Moge already has 14,000 units waiting in the Jettisoned container.

Just to be sure I dont loose a container I start a new one on each trip. They only stay in space an hour.

Once Im done Ill have Moniker Escrow all the minerals to Moge so he can refine them. In less than an hour I have mined well over 100,000 units of minerals!

My major problem now is only that fact that with my mining skills and 2 mining 1 lasers going I fill up my frigate cargo hold ever 2-3 minutes so I have to keep a close eye on the game. I often program or read Eve fan fiction while I mine.

Very nice! Looks like Avian's going to be able to take this game by force. Do you need 1 more frigate with mining, or 1 more slow boat the most?

probably frigate. Even if Moniker cannot keep up we can just dump minerals into the Jett'd container. Those have a capacity of 27k, my badger has a cargo of 4.5k.

Remember the better laser you have the longer a rock will last. Mining Laser 1 is what I would consider bare minimum requirments for long mining sessions.

Im refining now. Ill post my numbers when I get them.

cool. Im heading back out now.

Numbers:
roughly 1 hour of mining.
Skills:
Mining 3
Mining Laser 1 x2
Refining 2
Mining Drone x1

--
55.79k Scordite
14.45k cond scordite
14.33k veldspar
-

refining:
Scordite:
tritanium 117618/6190/1503
Pyerite: 58739/3092/7642

Cond Scordite
tritanium 31812/1674/4139
Pyerite: 15888/836/2067

Veldspar:
Tritanium: 36357/1914/4730

Profits:
Tritanium: 1.57isk per unit 291,685 ISK total
Pyerite: 4.60ISK per unit 343,284ISK total

interestingly. Non refined Scordite and Cond Scordite sells for 9 ISK cpu. Maybe I shouldn't have refined it :)

The system I'm in (can't remember the name atm) is buying Massive Scordite at 12cpu (plus good prices for concentrated and normal scordite), so I make about 345k, minus sales tax, per hour.

The pace suits me fine atm. It takes an hour to fill up my 4312.5m^3 hold, and I just have to keep an eye on when the asteroid is depleted. But there might only be about five or six massive scordite rocks at each belt and they are pretty small (abount 3 to 4 will fill my hold).

Moge and I decided to be total nerds, and get battleships. We mined Scordite continuously for about 3 hours, and made just about 2 mil.

Moge's got the exact numbers, but it seemed to work pretty well. We got run out of our choice area by a fleet of Massive ships with tons of drones that ate up a field of about 30 big rocks.

- Prog makes more money to sell, but is slower to mine. Scordite is the best to mine at lower levels.

- A 100k ISK mining lazer adds about 12% more yield beyond the basic mining lasers

- A battleship may hold space for 8 mining lasers... but the CPU runs out real quick (after about 4 of them). Doh!

Yak and I double teamed a few fields tonight. With Moge and Yak mining and Moniker running transport. We made just over 1 million each in a few hours time.

Ive upgraded to a Destroyer which has 8 turrents. Im now trying to figure out how to load them up. The Gallente Destroyer has a very low CPU and can currently only fit 2 mining lasers - which is what I had on my Frigate. With some lvl 2 skills I can easily raise that 15% and increase my efficiency a good 10-15% as well which I hope yields me another 2 lasers.

No idea how you would fit all 8 on there at this point though. Even with skills, and upgrades. I'll work on it when the server comes back up.

I've been playing this game for three days and I'm still doing the tutorial! Just about started the agent missions.

Char name: Antar Karmalon

The trouble is I'm working 2pm - Late most days at the moment and only get a chance to really get into the game when I get back. So I only get in a couple of hours before going to bed (will probably have to start getting up earlier and logging on in the mornings!). My aim is to actually complete most of the tutorials and get some way into the game before my Trial expires on the 29th. I'll then decide whether or not to carry on with it (though there doesn't seem to be much of a contest at the moment :D).

I've put most of you guys on my buddy list in game so you may start to get messeges from me at some point. When I've gotten out of my rookie ship, I'll come over to where everyone else seems to be and join up with the corp.

p.s. we got a forum for this yet?

I'd be interested to hear more about your experiences in the Battleship or other ship types.

I decided a couple days ago that I was going to get all the skills for a particular ship based on "best in class" as described on the boards....I'm about halfway there from a skill perspective.

So with the Rifter frigate, for example, the load out says to use a webifier (weapon that can slow the opposing ship down). This requires some propulsion skillsets. Once I get more of the learning tree done, that's what I'll focus on...

After that is when I'm going to look at other ship types.

Antan. Be sure your training skills all this time. If you have Learning Skills get up to Leaning IV and usch as listed in a post above. Even if you r not sur eyou need it it is better to be training soething rather than nothing.

--

Ship: For some reason I am enjoying figuring this game out on my own. Im not reading the boards much other than basic tutorials. Ship loadouts and ships themselves I am just hunting and pecking through.

Yeah Im waisting some training and some ISK (and Yaks as well) but for me I am having fun buying a ship, outfitting it and then saying 'nope, not what I was looking for'.

This game is so complex but I know at somepoint it will become second nature. Im enjoying the learning curve and Im not in a huge rush to befome 'l33t'. I usually am in MMOs, I want to get to End Game as soon as possible. With Eve Im just enjoying the process. Funny, what no grind does to your playstyle.

I can see where you are coming from Moge, my reasons for reading the boards on ships goes to your point about complexity. There is SOOOOO much variation on what you can load out your ships with...I needed a point of reference. Maybe after I move beyond Frigates I'll experiment more....

I think there's a grind, but its different than other MMO's. Its that time grind which feels less like a grind to me. After all, when I'm sleeping and getting skill points for level 5 frigate, I'm not at the computer. I think Yak alluded to this in an earlier post.

yeah I agree with you on the variety. There is a limitless amount of variety in this game - anyone ever notice that we have not seen one post on the boards about this or that needs nerfed or balanced? Interesting.

As for the no grind. Yeah there is a grind but it is just nice to load up a game and say, what do I want to do today vs. what do I need to do today. It is that aspect that Im enjoying. Seems to take the work out of the game and make it all play.

Heh heh. Great minds, and all that. I'm just glad we got our stories right when we were really with those twin Companions.... er, nevermind.

So, I'm a skill-training fool. I'm going for:

Engineering 2
Electronics 2
Electronics Upgrades (then, I can use the CPU enhancers)
Gunnery 2
Weapons Upgrades (start chipping away at CPU costs)
Navigation 1
Warp 3

I'm able to get 3 mining lasers and a normal gatling gun on my destroyer before the CPU gets all choked up. Hopefully by this evening, I'll be able to fit 2 more lasers on.

And, yeah. I love the way the grind in this game is hidden underneath the covers. You were right that it's a perfect game for game-designer types to see how ideas work.

Any chance you want a repeat mining performance?

Will we rent an office in a station over at the other side of Empire space? As it doesn't seem like too many started with Gallente, and everyone is having to come over 10+ jumps.

When you click the "Rent Office" at the station you get this message.
Quote:
You have been quoted an office rental fee of 4,916,348.00 ISK. The
rental period is for 30 day(s). The corporation renting you the office
can end the contract at the end of a rental period. The contract might
be automatically extended if the office has not been vacated at the
end of a rental period. This is done at the discretion of the corporation
renting you the office. If the contract is automatically extended then
you will receive a bill for the extension of the contract. If you do not
pay the bill by the end of the extension, then the office will be
repossessed. In order to rent an office at this station, you must accept
the fee. Do you accept?

I've seen the fee range from just under 5m to over 7m.

Nah, I say we keep this one. It's a while to travel there, but honestly... just set your autopilot one night before going to bed, and you'll wake up there.

And, Gallente space seems to have MUCH MUCH less lag that Caldari space.

Did you already pay the 5m, or is that paid at the end. We need to start earning some credits to pay you back!

Oh, and I just noticed that my destroyer only has 1 low power slot... so, I can only fit one CPU enhancer in there. Urgh.

wow Yak, I can only fit 2 mining lasers in mine :( Im working on upgrades but with only 175cpu to start it doesnt look good.

Im basically training the same as you are right now. After that I'll for toward a Cruiser, then a Battleship (those are what we say lastnight speed mining :) ) but that will take a bit to get to.

For now I chunk away with my Destroyer and my 1 drone and 2 lasers. I hope to add a total of 4 lasers but does not look good.

I haven't paid anything other than the start up fee (1.6m). The above is for additional office space. Nothing has to be paid at the current station (don't think it is an 'office' we have there).
Afaik, once you have an office you can have a corp hanger to share assets.

I didn't think travel worked off-line. I tried it before, and I didn't seem to get anywhere.

Lanasa's parents accumulated significant wealth profiting from the war supplying both sides and left him a fortune totally 100,000,000.00ISK.

Lanasa met Obbo via a mutual agent friend, and Lanasa was intrigued by Obbo's business savvy enough to want to partner with him in AVIA.

After a 10 million ISK gift to Obbo for his troubles setting up the corporation and to get it off the ground, Lanasa has about 85,000,000 left after skill and equipment acquisitions.

He knew Obbo would bring on additional savvy and ambitious partners such as Big Yak and Moge. He's available for short term loans and is interested in reading more about their ventures to fund a profitable enterprise. It currently looks like mining is the business to be in....

umm Lanasa, where the heck did you get that kind of ISK?

As for the space, well Moniker is Caldari but she will be sticking around Gallente space for the forseeable future. I think the shared space woudl be a great way for us to exchange parts and such we no longer need. Also, once people start building things we can exchange minerals and the like.

For 30 days 4mil isnt bad at all. Question, before we get to far into this, are we sure this is the station we want our base at? Personally Im indefferent, just asking though.

The HQ can be moved too. It might be an idea to move it, as Duripant is a rookiee system afaik and could be a bit packed.
I hang around Luminaire atm (following the scordite market :P).

btw moge, an offer to join the corp was sent to you, check your apps window.

Quote:
Trading Skills
Accounting
Proficiency at squaring away the odds and ends of business transactions and keeping the check books tight. Each level of skill reduces transaction tax by 10%.

Broker Relations
Proficiency at driving down market-related costs. Each level of skill grants a 5% reduction in the cost associated with setting up a market order, which usually comes to 1% of the order's total value. This can be further influenced by the player's standing towards the owner of the station where the order is entered.

Daytrading
Allows for remote modification of buy and sell orders. Each level of skill increases the range at which orders may be modified. Level 1 allows for modification of orders within the same solar system, Level 2 extends that range to systems within 5 jumps, and each subsequent level doubles it. Level 5 allows for market order modification anywhere within the current region.

Margin Trading
Ability to make potentially risky investments work in your favor. Each level of skill reduces the percentage of ISK placed in market escrow when entering buy orders. Starting with an escrow percentage of 100% at Level 1, each skill level cumulatively reduces the percentage by 25%.

Marketing
Skill at selling items remotely. Each level increases the range from the seller to the item being sold. Level 1 allows for the sale of items within the same solar system, Level 2 extends that range to systems within 5 jumps, and each subsequent level doubles it. Level 5 allows for sale of items located anywhere within current region.

Procurement
Proficiency at placing remote buy orders on the market. Level 1 allows for the placement of orders within the same solar system, Level 2 extends that range to systems within 5 jumps, and each subsequent level doubles it. Level 5 allows for placement of remote buy orders anywhere within current region.

Note: placing buy orders and directly buying an item is not the same thing. Direct remote purchase requires no skill.

Retail
Ability to organize and manage market operations. Each level raises the limit of active orders by 8.

Trade
Knowledge of the market and skill at manipulating it. The active sell order limit is increased by 4 per level of skill.

Visibility
Skill at promoting your product effectively. Each level increases a remote sell order's radius of effect from origin. Level 1 allows for range within same solar system, Level 2 extends that range to systems within 5 jumps, and each subsequent level doubles it. Level 5 allows for a full regional range.

Wholesale
Ability to organize and manage large-scale market operations. Each level raises the limit of active orders by 16.
