While admiring Yaks most excellent (and safe!) sampling technique the other day, I recieved a call from Iobike who needed help with a mission.

(admiring yaks technique)
Image

He had spoken with a distraught man near the Concert hall in Keren whose master had been kidnapped. The kidnappers turned out to be dangerous pirates, and the man had warned Iobike to bring some friends along, and heeding this advice Iobike asked if I could back him up. We moved far south towards the coordinates where the Master had last been seen, and we spotted a pirate base hidden in a small valley.

(Scouting the pirate base)
Image

We waited until nightfall and fortunately it started raining to cover our inital attack. We dispatched the guards before they knew what hit them. We were jamming their coms so no one inside had heard what happened to the guards.

(Taking out the guards)
Image

Once inside we somehow managed to slice the comnet after much trial and error and drew up the base layouts (If only Sluggy had been there, he'd have done it in a second).

(Getting the layout)
Image

The layout was a good help in finding the kidnapped Master and his two assitants. We checked our armor readied our weapons and Iobike counted us down

(Ready to attack!)
Image

We were about to charge ahead when the lieutenant came wandering out to check up on those guards he had sent out.

(Facing down the lieutenant)
Image

After a brief but tough firefight we managed to take him out. Only now the base was alerted to our presence. We had to act quickly!
Our inital plan to sneak in and rescue the hostages was obviously of no use, so we moved quickly and cautiously ahead, clearing room after room before the pirates could grasp the seriousness of the situation and muster a counter attack.
Nearing what we decided must be the center of the base we encountered Ek'Ta Issoc the dreaded pirate master! He was superior in arms, but with our superior tactics (First dealing a serious bleeding wound to him and then imitating a very hasty withdrawal and promptly playing dead *cough*incapped*cough*) We managed to outwit him and slowly drain his strength until we could finish him off.

(Attacking the boss)
Image

After Ek'Ta Issoc had been taken out, the rest of the pirates gave up without much resistance.
We uncovered strange chambers in the underground base, but decided to leave this to the authorities, having achieved what we came here for.

(Weird chamber)
Image

After a hard days work, it's nice to be able to relax at the Kadaara beech 8)

(Relaxing at the beech)
Image

OOC Summary: Cool "dungeon", tough mobs for two guys (maybe if we'd taken it a bit slower) though we're both novice pistoleers with DX2's. Biggest gripe: NO LOOT  , apart from the Xp and the combat xp bonus from rescuing the kidnappees. There are "chest" but they are all empty.
PS: Yes I know the pics are not strictly sequential, but hey, why ruin a good story

Yep fun quest. Obbo, Sluggy and I had the same problem.. all that work and no loot =/. They had pleny of riches like paintings that must have been stolen by the pirates but you couldn't take it.
Also, did you talk to the "Yellows" on the left in the fourth picture? Freeing those hostages is what the quest is mainly about. If you would have spoken to them and set them free... I think you get 3000 combat XP each! Almost makes up for no cool loot, so I hope you didn't put holes in them.

<<oops never mind  "The layout was a good help in finding the kidnapped Master and his two assitants. We checked our armor readied our weapons and Iobike counted us down" Did you get 3k combat xp when you freed them? I may go back and try to do it again sometime if so>>

Hey, Aubai!

You didn't tell me you were taking screenshots! ..In that case, I could have done more posing over the pirate corpses.. :)

..An yes, Ek'ta Issoc, the dread pirate master was quite a handful, but we got her in the end... ;)

All in all an excellent mission. Three minor gripes, though.
-When arriving 100m from the base, we got a 'mission completed' message. It was obviously enough just to find the base..
-No loot! All them containers and no loot. Whoever heard of pirates with no loot??
-When returning back to the mission assigner, he tried to give me the mission again, it was not completed, although we cleared the entire pirate base. Oh well.

Fun hunting (as always) with you, Aubai, and you made an excellent narrative of it as well!

Hmm - we should have gotten a shot of the chamber with the large framed painting.. :)

Hmm - I haven't got a DX2 yet, though, but I got a nice FWG5 that Shaggy sliced down to 1.5 Attack Speed. :)

Cheers, Aubai!
Iobike.

Duuuuuuhhhh.....

*Runs and hides in a corner* Sorry, Sluggy!

Note to self: Do not try to refer to events that occurred in a haze after bedtime, especially when the only thing that kept you awake was a way too high dose of caffeine.

I hope Sluggy will still slice my next gun, though. ;) ..I'm thinking of getting a decent DX2...

I love Scooby-Doo!
Did you know that Shaggy was (probably) the first grunger? Long before Nirvana and all that. Just look at his clothes! The posture! The hair! The wispy beard!
