With the season opener on Thursday night and the anticipation palpable, I want to do something a little special. Nothing big but I want to give a preview to every AFL game and put in some reason to watch the outcome, in attempts that people will “Get Pumped!” about watching the RL games and the matchups. If yall like this then I will repeat every week if possible, if you don’t like it or are indifferent, no worries. I will still put my world famous

boxscore after the close of the head-to-head game. So, lets start off with the matchups!
-----------
Off the bat there are 3 games that stick out to me. These games are the ones between the vets, all of em know what they are doing and have a history of winning, so on the surface these games should be great. The Hawkbats vs Cetera's Cyclops starts off the trio of vet games. Cetera is expecting a huge game from W. McGahee of the Bills, they will be playing the soft Houston defense, so 2 TDs would almost be a done deal. Cetera also has a good looking pick with M. Bulger, and the “Greatest Show on Turf” on the road at the leagues worst record team last year with the 49ers. Expect a big game out of Bulger. So you may be asking, how are the Hawkbats going to match the expected splurge of points outta the Cyclops? With players that get the job done. Talon has assembled a team of players that are a shoe in for points. M. Harrison, Baltimore Def, T. Barber, Ke. Johnson, Hasselbeck; all players that will bring in the points consistently. With these players Talon will look to repeat his success last year and make another playoff birth.

The Airmen and Davni’s Durnis squareoff as the 2nd of our vet matchups. Both players made it into the playofss last year so expectations are high. With Brees and the Superfreak, Randy Moss, Arindel has a right to call his team the Airmen. Walker of GB is a great play also, with Detroit’s less than stealer pass rush and safety play the Pack should have few problems going for the deep bomb to Walker. And as a Skins fan I have to point out the potential big game from CP; Portis could possibly have the best game out of any RBs this week, with the Skins getting the lead early and just running down the clock. Only time will tell. Davni has the other half of the Superfreak’s playmaking ability. Starting Collins is a great way of keeping the numbers even. The standout wideout Clayton for TB is a good choice this week, or any week really. But the interesting part is the opposition of Min who has revamped their Defense. Will it help? Will Davni be able to make it back to the playoffs and Superbowl with these rising superstars? That’s why they play the games.

The last vet only matchup is between a hungry Dragon Fire and the perennial contender Romsuaig. DF has a strong “tier 2” trio of WRs that are ready to explode. And with Favre ready to prove he isn’t the old man who needs to retire, playing against division rival Detroit, look for some big numbers. Edge looks to increase DF’s points with a long running day in the RCA dome. The Rancors aren’t anything to take lightly though, just look at Rom’s roster. Priest Holmes. Tom Brady. Tory Holt. Donald Driver. All players that have proven they can outperform expectations; the most dangerous intangible when looking at any player. Expect big things from them this year. This should be a great game between two great teams. Get your popcorn ready!
-----------
Newcomer Dash is facing off with sophomore standout lakini. Da Bears are counting on the Blue Bomber, Manning, to deliver a huge payload of points to the board, playing against the nasty Baltimore defense with the "new", old-school 46 we will see how the Colts stand up to the pass rush. Chad Johnson should have an excellent game against the Browns. The RBs of Da Bears are a little less than sexy picks but may just prove to put the points on the board for lakini. Dash and his Rouges should put up considerable pointage with Trent Green, Alexander and Gonzo. With these great players on his roster he should make an excellent impact in his first year with the AFL.
-----------
Newcomer Sullie and her Boy’s look to repeat past success in the AFL with standouts such as Joe Horn, J. Lewis and Shockey. And the rest of the WR corps is nothing to laugh at with Steve Smith and Marcus Robinson of Carolina and Minnesota, respectively bringing in the points. Yahoo! Is also predicting 15 points from Brooks, not too shabby for the 89th overall pick. However, it looks like this season the Commandos wont be laying out the red carpet for this AFL newbie. With Culpepper, C-Mart, Andre J from Houston, Muhsin “Moose” Muhammad, and Lee Evans, Exar should be looking for a huge game. In addition, Exar has one of the best starting IDPs (Individual Defensive Player) of the whole league. With Spikes and Clements of Buffalo look for a strong 10 points. However, the Bills star CB may be out with a shoulder injury this first week.
-----------
Additional newcomer Mole has a workload in his first game with the AFL. With Vick, Mr. SportsCenter, the Mighty Mole’s might have a highlight worthy performance. A stellar Defense with Carolina and explosive RB Kevin Jones the Moles should rack up the points. However, with 3 of the Moles players being from Detroit, is Mole depending too much on one team for his points? I don’t think so, Green Bay has horrid defense this year, I think it’s a great play. The Champs, however, are looking to make a repeat this year with players that have both proven themselves and are on the upside. Look to Delhomme, Corey Dillion, Dom Davis and “Nasty” Nate Burleson to repeat last years Superbowl run. Yes that’s correct. These 4 players were on the Crits last year and are hungry for more.
-----------
Last but not least is the game between the 2 newcomers. The Dawgs and Nerfherders both look to impress the league with huge games from their respective studs. Nasiobo has assembled true star power from McNabb, Reggie Wayne, Pitt Def and J. Jones. They have tough matchups but these players/teams have proven to produce week to week, despite the opponent. Look for some big numbers from the Dawgs this year. The Nerfherders look best out of all the new teams with Owens, 1st pick LT and sexy pick Mike Anderson against the Mia Defense. Nerk has definitely done his homework, knows the matchups and is looking for success right from kickoff. Look for this AFL newbie to make a major impact in the standings.
