Why the early time? Were others having an issue with later times? O well, I don't think I'd be able to make the 5:15 anyhow during the week. Hopefully I'll get some good auto picks :) hehe

He's in Eastern time zone. Or at least he was. Don't think he moved.

Hmmmm, sorry! I don't know how I missed that post ??? Somehow I only saw the post about 5:15 and was responding to that. Yes, 11:00 PM is GREAT. It's a bit late, but, at least I can be there and sleep in a little late the next morning. I would vote yes for this .. and, also, I would vote 100% yes for anything between 6:00PM EDT and 11:00PM EDT .. those would be the ideal times for me .. so, you're right at that top range :) Either way, greate job on organizing and handling all of this. It's gonna be near impossible to make everyone 100% happy!

And, yup .. I have not moved. Still in the northern surburbs of Atlanta, GA.

Not very nice to some of us working folk. Any movement down would help. If the draft only goes an hour, then 11:00 will work...otherwise, I'm going to be tired (not that I won't anyhow)

I agree, it's a little late, but, I would rather be a little tired and be there than not be tired .. but, also not be there :) hehe. From the vets, how long does the draft last? Either way, I'm a late night person .. so, I'll hang in there :D hehe

the draft lasts anywhere from an hour to hour and a half. but the amount of time really depends on how many people take the full 60 secs to make a decision and if the computer pickers take a long time as well. So it could take less depending on how many people show up. Ive had drafts that breeze through in 45min :!:

The only time avalible atm, that are between 6pm and 10pm est, are on Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd.

there arnt any earlier times, in that range on the 1st of septemeber.

Not too early for me! That would be the absolute PERFECT time for me :) That's after the kids are in bed and I'm downstairs browsing the web or playing games. Now, I can't speak for everyone though :)

rofl

but seriously,

I think/hope we got the draft set so we need to get 1 or 3 more people to play this season. Right now we have 11 players. So we must have at least 1 more person to draft.

Ive contacted everyone on my MSN list and sent a few people emails and PMs. I have 1 maybe and 1 "only if you need me".

please talk to your friends in-game and send them to this thread or tell them to contact me anyway they can. If you have talked to someone and they are at a maybe I can talk to em, I can be very persuasive  We got 15 days to get at least 1 more player. thanks.

there is a draft special on Monday(Thursday actually) Night Countdown on atm. Its a Mock draft with ESPN people, if you watcing tv you should check it out on ESPN. 1 week left until our draft. Get Pumped!

There is a Fantasy Draft Special on FOX Sunday afternoon at 3:00est I think. I will be checking it out, you should also 8)

Oh also, do yall want to have Assisted Tackles on? It is off by defualt and doesnt have a defualt point setup. I asked Marrok about this like a decade ago  since he seems to like the point setup stuff the most, but what do yall want?

I am more inclined to have the Tackle Assists on. It should be worth very little, like .25 or even .10. Tackles are worth .50. Let me know what you want.

Hey, question ... I'm looking at the draft rules. It says we have to have an even number of teams. I only count 13 teams. Sooooo, we need to do our own draft and draft another team! :D

You are correct sir. daishus has said he will join if Marrok does not show up from his AWOL status by the end of today. No worries.

Any other questions?

Im not sure what the problem is Arindel. Nasi, Nerk, Davni and others were able to make the draft and get in, did you check your java settings? thats the only thing I can think of. Sorry Arindel

I thought my draft went ok, I didnt want to pass up LaMont Jordan in the 3rd round and took a blow in the WR department. Every other position I feel I have great depth at.

How did the draft go for you?

Are you looking to trade? If so use the Trade Block feature, I know I will :)

Good luck to everyone in week 1!

I'm a little grumpy I couldn't do the live draft after spending a fair chunch of time making my list.

My team looks to be fairly decent all things being considered, but there is room for improvement.

I couldn't make it to the draft, and I have to wonder how Yahoo! picked my guys. I have some decent RBs, but the rest of my team stinks. Woohoo! I'll have to succeed in the face of adversity.

How long do guys have to sit on waivers before you can claim them?

I got a wierd bunch also it must pick on projected strength cause I had a couple guys on my team while there are better men in the free agent pool

With the season opener on Thursday night and the anticipation palpable, I want to do something a little special. Nothing big but I want to give a preview to every AFL game and put in some reason to watch the outcome, in attempts that people will “Get Pumped!” about watching the RL games and the matchups. If yall like this then I will repeat every week if possible, if you don’t like it or are indifferent, no worries. I will still put my world famous ;) boxscore after the close of the head-to-head game. So, lets start off with the matchups!

-----------

Off the bat there are 3 games that stick out to me. These games are the ones between the vets, all of em know what they are doing and have a history of winning, so on the surface these games should be great. The Hawkbats vs Cetera's Cyclops starts off the trio of vet games. Cetera is expecting a huge game from W. McGahee of the Bills, they will be playing the soft Houston defense, so 2 TDs would almost be a done deal. Cetera also has a good looking pick with M. Bulger, and the “Greatest Show on Turf” on the road at the leagues worst record team last year with the 49ers. Expect a big game out of Bulger. So you may be asking, how are the Hawkbats going to match the expected splurge of points outta the Cyclops? With players that get the job done. Talon has assembled a team of players that are a shoe in for points. M. Harrison, Baltimore Def, T. Barber, Ke. Johnson, Hasselbeck; all players that will bring in the points consistently. With these players Talon will look to repeat his success last year and make another playoff birth.

-----------

The Airmen and Davni’s Durnis squareoff as the 2nd of our vet matchups. Both players made it into the playofss last year so expectations are high. With Brees and the Superfreak, Randy Moss, Arindel has a right to call his team the Airmen. Walker of GB is a great play also, with Detroit’s less than stealer pass rush and safety play the Pack should have few problems going for the deep bomb to Walker. And as a Skins fan I have to point out the potential big game from CP; Portis could possibly have the best game out of any RBs this week, with the Skins getting the lead early and just running down the clock. Only time will tell. Davni has the other half of the Superfreak’s playmaking ability. Starting Collins is a great way of keeping the numbers even. The standout wideout Clayton for TB is a good choice this week, or any week really. But the interesting part is the opposition of Min who has revamped their Defense. Will it help? Will Davni be able to make it back to the playoffs and Superbowl with these rising superstars? That’s why they play the games.

-----------

The last vet only matchup is between a hungry Dragon Fire and the perennial contender Romsuaig. DF has a strong “tier 2” trio of WRs that are ready to explode. And with Favre ready to prove he isn’t the old man who needs to retire, playing against division rival Detroit, look for some big numbers. Edge looks to increase DF’s points with a long running day in the RCA dome. The Rancors aren’t anything to take lightly though, just look at Rom’s roster. Priest Holmes. Tom Brady. Tory Holt. Donald Driver. All players that have proven they can outperform expectations; the most dangerous intangible when looking at any player. Expect big things from them this year. This should be a great game between two great teams. Get your popcorn ready!

-----------

Newcomer Dash is facing off with sophomore standout lakini. Da Bears are counting on the Blue Bomber, Manning, to deliver a huge payload of points to the board, playing against the nasty Baltimore defense with the "new", old-school 46 we will see how the Colts stand up to the pass rush. Chad Johnson should have an excellent game against the Browns. The RBs of Da Bears are a little less than sexy picks but may just prove to put the points on the board for lakini. Dash and his Rouges should put up considerable pointage with Trent Green, Alexander and Gonzo. With these great players on his roster he should make an excellent impact in his first year with the AFL.

-----------

Newcomer Sullie and her Boy’s look to repeat past success in the AFL with standouts such as Joe Horn, J. Lewis and Shockey. And the rest of the WR corps is nothing to laugh at with Steve Smith and Marcus Robinson of Carolina and Minnesota, respectively bringing in the points. Yahoo! Is also predicting 15 points from Brooks, not too shabby for the 89th overall pick. However, it looks like this season the Commandos wont be laying out the red carpet for this AFL newbie. With Culpepper, C-Mart, Andre J from Houston, Muhsin “Moose” Muhammad, and Lee Evans, Exar should be looking for a huge game. In addition, Exar has one of the best starting IDPs (Individual Defensive Player) of the whole league. With Spikes and Clements of Buffalo look for a strong 10 points. However, the Bills star CB may be out with a shoulder injury this first week.

-----------

Additional newcomer Mole has a workload in his first game with the AFL. With Vick, Mr. SportsCenter, the Mighty Mole’s might have a highlight worthy performance. A stellar Defense with Carolina and explosive RB Kevin Jones the Moles should rack up the points. However, with 3 of the Moles players being from Detroit, is Mole depending too much on one team for his points? I don’t think so, Green Bay has horrid defense this year, I think it’s a great play. The Champs, however, are looking to make a repeat this year with players that have both proven themselves and are on the upside. Look to Delhomme, Corey Dillion, Dom Davis and “Nasty” Nate Burleson to repeat last years Superbowl run. Yes that’s correct. These 4 players were on the Crits last year and are hungry for more.

-----------

Last but not least is the game between the 2 newcomers. The Dawgs and Nerfherders both look to impress the league with huge games from their respective studs. Nasiobo has assembled true star power from McNabb, Reggie Wayne, Pitt Def and J. Jones. They have tough matchups but these players/teams have proven to produce week to week, despite the opponent. Look for some big numbers from the Dawgs this year. The Nerfherders look best out of all the new teams with Owens, 1st pick LT and sexy pick Mike Anderson against the Mia Defense. Nerk has definitely done his homework, knows the matchups and is looking for success right from kickoff. Look for this AFL newbie to make a major impact in the standings.

-----------

With all these great stories you shouldn’t be board this weekend, which kicks off Thursday at 9:00pm est on ABC. Looking forward to a great season guys. Best of luck from your Commish.

Theres another cool little feature in the matchup portion of the league site where you can vote on who is going to win the head-to-head game. Just another small thing to waste time while your at work

awesome review acritus! I have a lot to learn in this Fantasy Football stuff... I wasn't expecting to get all those Lions guys, I just wanted some players from my favorite team to root for! Oh well, it will be fun!

Yeah, that was an awesome write-up. Bringing in the past information and doing some analysis on the teasm.

Took a good bit of time, thanks.

Those are fun, but I think he gives me too much credit. My team didn't do much last year.

The coolest thing about this new Yahoo setup is the polling of the matchups. You can vote on who you think will win. It doesn't do anything for anyone, but it sure is fun.
